Manual Point Defense is a (fairly useless) thing. If you're firing a Can/Can at the enemy and they launch a missile, it'll pop it.

Fairly sure they can't. Same way the turret AI can't use support gear.

I'd cut back on the Aux in favour of standard power lines. With that much Aux, it'll only take one piercing shot to really ruin your day.

Default sector size is definitely not 2km. Just booted up my Vanilla install and it seems to be roughly 5km. 2 is very low.

Yeah, they got their act together after the 300-series. The current Gen do run a little warmer than their counterparts, but that really comes down to the cooling solution you buy. If you were looking at that route, Sapphire make the best AMD cards, with MSI being up there too.

I'll spout my usual garbage of choosing an AMD RX 480 over the GTX 1060. The 8GB 480 is generally slightly cheaper than the 6GB 1060, is slightly slower in DX11. It gets interesting when you switch to DX12 though, as then the 480 is vastly superior to the 1060. Besides, Nvidia are being nasty...

At the size you're building, it's a rare moment when you can fire your main weapons. This basically means the majority of your damage will come from turrets. I always recommend Ball turrets, as they're the most efficient turrets at the moment, with at least half the turret below the hull line...
