      Yes. Holding RGB values in a block would require blocks to store a LOT more data than they do now, if you want a range of colours that makes the RGB system even worth it.

      Pretty sure this 'slowpoke' came here to play a sci-fi spaceship game, not an unarmored sticks with lots of beam turrets game. Perhaps his approach to the problem is wrong, but if there were effective "ways to counter this defense" atm, I'm pretty sure all the competitive ships we hear about...

      This might be interesting, but that doesn't necessarily make it good. Buffs like this seem to be the sort of thing you would want to have as features for stations, maybe relying on some resource from planet mantle extractors to continue running.

      'Corrections' for most of the things you listed would be totally adding new features that mess with the core gameplay (O2, food, water, collision damage, fuel...) or breaking more-or-less necessary functions (homebase protection, advanced build mode). Tying blueprints into shipyards isn't either...

      They want to remove it for normal play, yes, and assuming they can get shipyards stable (ha-ha, I know), what's the issue with this? Having a proper in-game way of working with and building your designs makes a lot more sense than poofing ships into existence with magical items that can be used...

      Yes, these are correct. Remember that beam damage attenuates with range. They will massively outperform cannons at very close range, though.
