Noooo, that would feel a little inconsistant. I think we should just have an option in the config to allow people to choose what planets they want to generate in their universe.
It would, but since thrusters' mass would ussually be far smaller then the mothership's (sure, there would be all sorts of wacky designs) the mothership's rotation would only be fractional.
One of the reasons behind the lag is that no matter how large sector size you have it'll still load any planets if they are in adjacent sector. Also, you can reduce planet sizes in the config file to avoid lag.
We can have some sort of auto-stabilizers that you could turn on/off so that when you leave your ship it would "try" to stop with it's own thrusters. Turning it off, however, would make inertial missiles possible.

Do you all disc-loving people even realize how much time Schema spent implementing the cool new dodecahedrowhatever planets? Why can't we just have a config option to turn it on/off?
I think we should have both options: AI drones and player controlled fighters. Except anything that's remotely controlled, incl. turrets, would drain more power from it's systemss. That would make it more balanced.
