I'm not part of any of the involved faction but I do hear them talk, they were complaining that the server was too laggy to do anything on. And seemed disappointed that OAS and Vaygr called off the battle. That's at least how it looked to be like.

They weren't making the server lag. They wanted to make a surprise attack while OAS and Vaygr was fighting to have some fun.

if the missile damage exceeds the maximum amount of shields the damage will continue on to your hull. so a strong enough missile will be able to take out your shields completely and take half of your ship with it.
