Don't have to. AM good. ...at a lot more than you are apparently.
Hence why you feel you NEED to be able to fuck with people on an anonymous online game.
Hi SentinelX 101,
A few questions about your server...
1) Do you have challenging/upgraded pirates?
2) Do you allow building on planets?
3) What modifications (if any) do you have in place in contrast to a vanilla version of the game?
I'm waiting for that just like anyone else. For now; patience...
True, but there's a world of difference between a specialized PVP faction who assasinates capital ships and a guy who spawned in a basic CC build because he sucks at building AND PVP.
Unless they've changed something or there's a config setting out there; I've only seen turrets use focus fire.
A wide-waffle array or "wiederwaffe" (sorry... one of my subsidiary companies is from 22nd century Germany) creates a wall of bullets that tend to behave like one giant bullet...
What I've learned about PVP suggests that while hit and run/asymmetrical warfare is possible. I once teamed up with a buddy and boarded an enemy capital that invaded my base. We torched our way into his ship, cut out the faction bock and I shot the piss out of him with a sniper rifle. He...
It should go without saying that if (while in a weakened state) you attack someone stronger than you, then you will probably lose. And while carriers were key in WWII, Japan would never have been able to successfully invade and occupy the US.
Back on topic; my concern is not when two well...
Ah... resorting to comparing a video game to real life wars? You're funny:LOL:. Unfortunately, you've missed a few things...
- Japan (an economically dying country, at the time) attacked Pearl Harbor; part of the US; a heavily funded nation with superior fire power. So the U.S. Retaliated...
That is correct. UNLESS your faction is set to "consider neutral hostile"; in which case your turrets will shoot at almost anything that isn't part of your faction.
Clarification:
ANY = turret fires at hostiles only and ignores everything else unless your faction is set to "consider neutral...
I understand now. Two viewpoints; both of them correct in their own line of context and personal experience but unprovable to the other. One of the things I enjoy about this community is that there is always something new to learn. I think this is one of those times.
We all have lapses...
He kinda was.
His faction mates went inactive and someone (friend/ally/former faction member) stole something from him so he became overly paranoid. He attacked a newbie for shits and giggles but a bigger faction noticed this and gave him a piece of his own medicine. A subsequent attack...
What solution are you talking about? Oh wait! Is it the one where imperialism (just like regular PVP) fails address the problem that there is no consequence for being a dick? ...but instead could potentially make it even easier to be a dick by way of system/resource monopoly?
Also; How...
My earlier multi-player experiences always ended up with some guy in a capital launching missiles at my base while I'm just starting out. Homebase protection and "turtling" was the only way to avoid getting wiped out.
Regarding LvD. You don't need to tell me about that server. I was...
This...
This nonsense is enough to make me consider starting my own server. Money sure as hell isn't the problem, since I'd just buy/build my own hardware. But not everyone has the time to administer and maintain a server.
So instead of coming to an agreement that is fair to everyone...
Let's try a compromise then.
You want solo factions, PVEers, RPer to have a hard time "taking over the known universe"?
That's fair.
Give us this in return. Limit the ability of ALL factions to take over the galaxy. Maximum of 3 systems per player; provided that all are active.
There is...
I highly doubt that anyone here wants to eliminate free PvP altogether.
What we are asking is that if you meet someone who isn't interested in fighting you, then leave them alone. Adhere to Wheaton's Law and do not assume that they are obligated to entertain you at their own expense.
Look...
You are correct. I've edited my post accordingly. Thanks.
A safety on a turret set to "Selected Target" will achieve the desired effect. On the other hand, safeties on turrets set to "any" may come in handy when docked at a non faction base to prevent accidental war declarations. It can...
