Anyone know how to save a blueprint from a server as local?

Some servers don't let you save to local, which are servers you don't want to be on, IMO. But like was already said, its probably not that. Its probably just a case of you needing to be in the ship like you were about to save the blueprint from scratch, and then selecting Save to Local. You...

To missile or not to missile

Yes and no. If you're looking at only what you personally are firing from the main ship, this is true. There's not much use in the others. However, Missile/Cannon on a turret is VERY useful, both in just flat out doing damage and in filling space with so many missiles that they overwhelm...

      Pirates stay away

Yup, what they said. Short range weapons on the pirates, long range weapons on turrets. AI will always stay at optimal range for the longest range gun it's got, making anything with shorter ranges worthless because they will never willingly move in close enough to use them.

      (A) simple solution to the "problem" of docked hull...

No, what I'm talking about is just gone. You can't shoot through a ship and hit the ship on the other side in a single shot. No matter how much punch through you've got, the damage ends when it reaches the opposite side of the entity you hit. Doesn't matter if you have a million points of...

      2k, I believe.

      Thoughts on sector size?

20k is going to be HUGE, just warning you. I played on a server with 10k sector size and just getting anywhere was a huge pain in the ass. A quick run to the shop in the same sector as you was a good 10 minute affair. There is a real reason why no game makes space realistically big, its...

      (A) simple solution to the "problem" of docked hull...

You forgot that they also stop penetrating damage cold. As a separate entity, a high powered cannon with lots of punch through or penetration will stop penetrating once it gets to the other side of the docked hull. Creates a skin giving temporary immunity to that type of weapon fire. Very...

      Thoughts on sector size?

Pros: Makes space feel big. Makes jump drives and warp gates feel important as you can't just rev the throttle up to full for a minute or two to get where you're going. Makes building big much easier as you don't have to worry about your station crossing sector boundries. Cons: Is potentially...

      Warship Design Philosophy (RP Perspective)

Well, a point of reference from the only true Star Trek warship, the okudagram of the Defiant: Its laid out with engines in the back, then the warp core and engineering, then work areas like labs and cargo, then the crew quarters are up front along with things like mess halls. For what the...

      (some cosmetic) block ideas

The desk computer would be easily done with a Display slab, many people have requested this. But seeing as how this was originally posted prior to the slab update, we can let that slide. And actually you can already more or less control the flow of goods through your ships and stations in both...

      New cannon/explosive mechanics

Well, for one penetration is currently built into cannon fire, its what it does best. If you just really want cannons to act like missiles, I'd recommend you build missile/cannon, and you'll get rapid dumbfire missiles that look and act exactly like you are proposing.

      Forge Welding

Working on making thrusters and engine covers, would be really nice if I could just make long thruster engine rods and weld them in place with the engine porn pre-attached. -_-

Deflector and FAKE (visual effect) bubble shields

The main problem I've seen stated with bubble shields is that rendering and calculating all the surfaces needed to make it would be too intensive. Not sure why we can't just have beehive barriers though.

      What can docked entities do?

Yeah, how dare they try to keep the game balanced and fun for everyone to play!

      What can docked entities do?

But only if its in one lump sum. A docked entity that cannot power itself will try to draw that power from what it is docked to. If what it is docked to cannot supply that power entirely, it will move down the chain until it either runs out of places to check, or it finds one lump sum big...

      What can docked entities do?

Might be clearer if we use a visual example. Dock B | Dock A | Ship Dock A can draw power from the Ship. Dock B can draw power from Dock A (which can then in turn draw from Ship). Dock A cannot draw power from Dock B, nor can Ship draw from A or B. Basically, power flows "up" the...

By the Creator, it's full of star!

Careful. With the star taking up half the system with death zone, you won't be able to jump past it. You build a station there, you will need to be very careful about leaving it. One absent minded jump and you're toast.
