you need energy blocks on turrets(not alot) to recharge the shields, although they can use the power from the main ship to fire their guns.

the game already has something that does that, they are called \"faction blocks\" they dont let anyone break/get in your ship unless they are in your faction, and if you dont want other faction members stealing you can either go one man faction or faction permission modules.
