we need to talk about losing

Upkeep on vessels and stations (could be in credits or resources) would be a smart thing. The larger and more complex the object, the more upkeep needed. I would even extend this to storage. As odd as it sounds, if capsules were to be perishable this would encourage people to take initiative and...

We need to talk about the "right to travel in peace"

What your proposing if it were something to be added by the devs would need to be something you could turn on or off in the server configs. Applying this to the entire game without a way to undo it would be a terrible mistake.

      Basic Healthy Multiplayer Etiquette

LvD, Brierie, Systemhack, Freaks R Us. All of these are excellent choices for Survival PvP servers with the least restrictive rule sets and players that want to fight. Of course I might just be a little biased in regards to LvD :P

      Basic Healthy Multiplayer Etiquette

As a general set of guidelines I think this is very solid guide for players, with the exception of #1 and #6. It's important to note that different servers cater to different sections of the SM community. If Edymnion were to start a server and set these guidelines and rules to cater to certain...

we need to talk about losing

Once crew is added one could even have a small chance one of your people would vanish and it would trigger a mini game to find them.

Titan Clash in Void Space Three days ago two of the galaxies largest warships met in battle near Secretorum's void-space home. Dark aligned Omnium Aeterna dispatched it's new flagship, the Drider into Secretorum space as a show of force. Difficulty, Secretorum's enigmatic leader answered the...

we need to talk about losing

The addition of a long range scan along with better scanning in general would be a huge help as well in forcing interaction. Ideally players could still hide if they put some effort into it, but there should always be a way to find your enemies in a way that is engaging, that puts you on the...

      38,000 entities.... XD

One could go into the world folder and attempt to remove them after shutdown, then bring it back up. Though I'd exercise extreme caution. Though, going back to my original point, one should not have to do such potentially dangerous things to simply regulate a server.

      38,000 entities.... XD

One could even write a script to periodically run such a command to keep the extra NPCs thinned out, but the fact that the game does not regulate this on it's own is a huge problem that needs to be corrected.

      38,000 entities.... XD

It's quite unfortunate. On Light Vs Dark I was very much looking forward to utilizing the custom NPCs to enrich the game play by adding some solid PvE elements that could potentially draw players into cooperative play, while funneling opposing players into similar places to create a rich PvE/PvP...

      Single Purpose Stations

Most server's configs prevent more than one station being in a sector, save for when an admin spawns or moves a station into a sector. Having dependencies between facilities wouldn't be a bad thing, as that would add a whole new dimension to the way you would have to spread out and protect...

      Single Purpose Stations

I could see this idea really paying off if done right. Perhaps even having some built in bonuses to sweeten the deal would work as well. A defense station for example could have a significant bonus to shield capacity and regen for example. A factory station could have bonuses to enhancer output etc.

Vaygr and Rogue Shadows Playing Nice? A Skirmish between Aeron Empyrean and Rogue Shadows, within RS's territory, took an unexpected turn when a Vaygr Despoiler intervened and drove off the Aeron vessel. No further hostile actions were observed by eyewitnesses. The fact that the Vaygr vessel...

StarMade v0.199.459 - Major Performance Upgrade

Just to throw my two cents in. I agree wholeheartedly that we need some major hardcore bug fixing before any new features come out. It takes an immense amount of time to explain to new players why it's not a good idea to do or build things a certain way due to either game breaking or player...

StarMade v0.199.459 - Major Performance Upgrade

Yep, I was observing this. The missiles were practically avoiding his ship, deliberately missing it seemed by up to 100m.

StarMade v0.199.459 - Major Performance Upgrade

Yes, but in this case, the strange behavior begins immediately, even with only 1 missile being fired in a loaded area.

StarMade v0.199.459 - Major Performance Upgrade

I'm seeing a lot of missiles failing to impact, even vs larger ships. Many of them will just endlessly circle in the same manner as they do vs ghost turrets. These missiles are endlessly circling a 30k mass ship with a pretty significant amount of surface area. Pre update they would have all...
