Yep, that has been suggested so many times before it's almost old by now. The search function is important, we keep getting repeat threads even when it's confirmed. Personally, a 'to do' list or roadmap would be much better, but for whatever reason the devs absolutely will not make one.

Agree, I love this idea. To diversify it you could make it so when you're on the ship a few things happen I.E. pirate trap, bomb trap, safe and free to take etc. BTW no not that I know of. Sounds like a mod to me.
