      As stated, all light producing blocks are no longer, well casting light. I do not believe this to be a graphical setting issue, although I am on a mac... I believe this to be a bug and thought I should report it. Cheers.

      It would be interesting to have a turret system similar to Deadnought, than again it might just be cooler to have crews controlling them so that you could command to focus fire/target X thing/fire at will.

      Well in three dimensional combat, turrets would technically be the most effective way of mounting weapons. ( not that missiles need them).       Yes I am aware of this, pardon my explanation, what I ment was that changing any of the values in server.cfg will not alter the settings in the actual server. It seems that upon purchasing the game from steam, it created a version independent from the original free download of the game. As such...

      Quick question

      Solved the problem! Nothing sensible was working, so... I ran a server off the steam star made, joined with the original after re-saving my favourite ships spawned them, reloaded through steam and saved them. Ave Deus Mechanicus! Thanks for the advice guys.

      Unfortunately this has not worked. The universes are different from each other and the steam version has no access to the former's blue prints. I can always transfer the blue prints between my brothers account than a through lan connection to steam, but I am sure the community knows a better way...
