I know this has already been suggested in this thread. I thought I would bring it up again because it's become more and more necessary.

    http://starmadedock.net/threads/admin-creative-gui-with-dragndrop-blocks.714/

With new systems, weapons, effects, aesthetic blocks, and expansions on old systems there is an increasing need for a minecraft style "creative mode". It's hard enough building one massive ship in the current sandbox mode. You have your entire inventory filled with standard, penta, tetra, and wedge blocks for at least two colours, maybe three, plus the same for glass, a number of different types of light blocks, then a numer of different type of coloured crystal blocks. It's also usually necessary to have docking block and enhancer blocks handy, as well as power generation, power storage, shield generation, and shield storage - and then a range of logic blocks as well. If you wanted to do work on a different part of the ship, you would have to swap out a number of these blocks for a different sort before swapping back to what you had before.

The tl;dr is: it's a bit inconvenient and tedious to build project ships/stations with the current sandbox mode systems in place due to the inventory limitations. This would very easily be solved with a minecraft style "creative mode", and with such a simple system in place I believe it would motivate people to build some really amazing things.

More than anything this is just a reminder to Schema that this is something that a number of people would like, as it would make our lives alot easier in the long run.

    Cheers, Mind Lord

You can actually fit over 5 different colors of hull in all shapes in your inventory.

I agree with mindlord and bob thats besides the point, I know I always run out of inv space when building ships because I use many different block types.

How are you able to store in a (7x5y +10) inventory + slot bar:
    • 15 = 3 different hull colours and all shapes
    • 16 = 8 weapon cpus and barrels
    • 7 = logic elements
    • 5+ door, display, deko some hardened hull (even if only the 3 full blocks) ...
    • 4 = help + weapons
now you are already out of space.

putting your help+weapons into storages outside your faction home and you run at a constant risk of losing them.
If your faction mate takes your power-supply, you have to ask an admin to get it back.

EDIT: forgot plex storages, 3-4 light, hazard striped hull, faction permission 4 dock blocks, power+thruster+shield+recharger+powertanks....

With the additions of many more decorative/functional blocks soon to be added, I feel this will become even more necessary than before. So just gonna bump this for the devs to see.

I've wanted this ever since I started playing this game. As well as being a great way for players to build blueprints, test designs, and not worry about pirates, it would be a great thing to teach new players how to play the game.
