Since when did stars shoot missiles?

    Should sun damage be nerfed?

The problem is that regenerated advanced armor is somewhat OP. For the simple cost of power? How about some time as well, or some other debuff?
The main reason why they did this, I think, is to make suns scarier; people used to be able to fly into the sun and just tank the damage, which is not the way it's supposed to work... Also, because the old method hit one block at a time. The "realistic" alternative - using raytests to check each block on the ship and burn all of the ones that are exposed to the sun - might cause performance issues.
If I remember correctly, sun damage still damaged me INSIDE the core. I lost about 10 ships on a server once because I flew to close to a sun with my big minerbrick-turned-battlestation. I thought it was the alpha station nearby, so I grabbed my jumper and flew out there. I planned to run out and dock my mined to my jumper and jump out of there. As with my miner, I suddenly saw the respawn screen. I made a bunch of tiny ships then to try and fly out there, and eventually figured out the sun was killing me. I still died a ton(with cpts) until I ran out of cores and just gave up.

I was really oblivious and ignorant back then, wasn't I?

I know it's petty. But saying your ships are getting "decimated" means that you're still up 90%.

Decimated means "to destroy one tenth of"

It's being used interchangeably with "devastated" and "obliterated."

As a species, we need to stop this.

Together we can bring an end to misused words and phrases! Words and phrases that irk even the most patient of English teachers, like "I could care less!" Thusly specifically stating that you do indeed care at least a little bit, instead of indicating that amount of fucks you give is zero, as you had intended.

I implore everyone to end this madness, before the end of proper grammar takes us all down the darkest of dark paths!

However, commonly the word ''decimated'' is used when talking about ''destroying or killing a large proportion of something''. According to the Oxford Dictionary, though some may contest it, it has now become part of the standard English.
Just saying, it is now the commonly assumed meaning of this term that has superseded it's historical meaning. Whether it's correct or not is a matter of opinion, but the fact is it can be used as either.

In short it doesn't really matter.

And I have no idea what happened in the 5th paragraph but it doesn't seem to sit right.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand:
Every form of attack in Starmade can be countered in on way or another, it seems odd that sun damage isn't one of them. It could easily be weaponized and/or used to the advantage of people either seeking a convenient hiding spot if there was a way to counter it. Perhaps heatsink and cooling modules could be created to help combat sun damage?

I think I missed a "the" in there somewhere.

Personally, I'm good with sun damage being the way it is. I'd love to see some total bastard weaponize this using a dedicated array of 100% push/pull effect weapons...

I don't want to see star damage nerfed... I just want to know it's coming... as if our frikking spaceships had some kind of magic "sensors" or something that alerted us beforehand... not once a ship was already irrevocably committed. I know basic heat sensors are pretty far out-there fantasy tech, but still...
