    Hello guys

I encountered, while testing the new weapons, that one major problem is, that it is sometimes useless to use effects and weapon combinations. The problematic point is that only the blocks of the main system count for calculating damage and energy consumption(generalized). This produces the situation that using for exampe the Ion-Effect, does not give you anything because to get 100% of its effect you have to replace half of your weapon system with Ion-Blocks. This means that also my damage becomes halfed. The Ion effect pushes this halfed damage up to the same amount of damage that would be dealt anyway, besides the fact that it now only counts for shields. and does not damage to blocks. So it becomes obsolete because i could also just use the big Cannon-system without this, which would do the same damage to shields and as well to blocks. Since there are a lot of possible combinations, i do not know if that matters for any system but for those changing damage, I would suggest: Main+Support+Effect=total block count. from this count, damage and energy should be calculated.

    Whats your opinion about that

Greetings, Nuclear! The overall damage output of any weapon system should be calculated based on the number of blocks in the system, which includes support and effect blocks. If it isn't counting effect modules, that's a bug and could use a good bit of bug spray.

What version are you using? Are you using any custom config options or mods? Is this singleplayer or have you tested it in multiplayer yet?

Oh? So Effect block count is suppose to add to the Total weapon group as well? o -o Aside from adding the effect based on Ratio, I havent seen them change the actual weapon stats (which were based on group size I assume) at all :x (I use Current 0.157, no modifications, Server)

Cyber, the original intent was only to modify the damage output of the systems, so the block count of the effects were set to not be included in the damage calculations. But with the 2 damage modification types (ION and Overdrive) you are correct in that they are lackluster in function, essentially they are only a cheap (power wise) method of increases damage types, at the cost of more block usage. With Overdrive, I compensated for this problem by using a 3x buffer instead of a 2x buffer, but that is only addressing the symptom and not the underlying issue. Since I wouldn't want to treat Ion the same (I cant deduct more than 100% damage from hull blocks to grant to the shield damage) and the general desire to grant an even dps per weapon block used (including the slaved systems) I've asked schema to include the tertiary blocks in the damage calculation. There's no ETA on this being implemented, but it will be done.
Thanks for the clear and calm explanation.

thanks for your fast answer. so i can build weapon systems in expectation that it will be changed soon or will this take some time?
