The RPi 2 is much more powerful than the original so you should be fine - especially since you could even run windows 10 for better compatibility if needed but you may have to overclock a bit for better performance

true the rotation seems to be a lot of it

This seems awesome the main cause of lag on planets seems to be their animated cores and partially their rotation and orbit (not sure if orbit exists; haven't had time to check)

you can get a good mining ship with starting materials if you sell the weapons you can buy around 500 reactors and 300 modules and some thrusters and cores just in case
