Inspiration for fleets / SHIPS - Request.

I can really get behind a thread of inspiring ship designs. Most of my inspiration comes from what's going on in the LEGO community. My favorite part of LEGO designs is that the scale is very fluid. You can take any smaller ship and easily turn it into a giant cruiser.

      Hello there fellow orange fleet.

Hoo boy. I've outright removed it, because I don't want to mislead anyone. Judging by Wanzer's solution, I believe there was some confirmation bias at work. My "fix" also happened to involve restarting after the maps had been toggled on, and I mistook what part of the process had solved the...

Hey, I'm not the only one that puts giant bolts all over my stuff!

Edit: Whoops. Removed so as not to mislead anyone.

StarMade v0.19549 Faction Permissions, Player Protection, Streamlining, and Fixes

Don't have the opportunity to play and check at the moment: Can I finally remap the "go faster" button for build mode? My fingers really want to go up and down with space and shift like very other game ever, but I can't do that while speeding up is permanently stuck to shift.

And slabs for grills/mesh/scaffold. While making small fighters I was dismayed to realize there are no grill slabs that I can fit around spinny bits without compromising hallway space.

Details, details, details. You need smaller features to add scale. Exterior catwalks, airlocks, small windows, etc. It's important for the viewer to see something that they understand the size of so that they unconsciously think, "Wow, I know how big a person is compared to that object, so...

      Next Generation Fighter: A Competition

I think negative space would only help against pierce and explosive effects, but I'm not 100% certain on that. My first two are fairly traditional chunks of armor packed to the brim with systems. I think the next (definitely final one this time) I'll experiment with more docked parts.

      Next Generation Fighter: A Competition

Hnnng. I keep habitually pushing the limit on how big I can make a 300 mass fighter. Seeing some of these smaller powerhouses makes me want to build something compact. *sigh* Time to build number three.

      Next Generation Fighter: A Competition

Got bored so I made another one. Enjoy the "Culex" class fighter. This one's a little better armed than the Stultus, and it's a whole lot easier to land. https://starmadedock.net/content/culex-class-fighter.4038/

      "Culex" class fighter V1

Another random fighter for the "Next Generation Fighter" competition. Retro raygun-inspired aesthetic with glorious pinks and teals. * 50-ish meters long * Four %100 cannon-cannons with %50 piercing * Small, top-mounted anti-missle turret * Broadside ion swarm missles for ams diversion and...

      Next Generation Fighter: A Competition

Seems like we're lacking a vertical fighter in the mix. In comes the Stultus scraping in at a tight 299.9 mass. Since the blueprint doesn't seem to save thrust date, the appropriate settings should be around 20% rotation, 25% forward/back, 20% up/down, 35% left/right...

      "Stultus" class fighter V1

      300-mass vertical fighter with landing capability for "Next Generation Fighter" competition. L: 21m, H: 51m, W: 9m (~13m w/ turrets) Armed with two 100% efficiency Piercing Cannon-Cannons (32 each per output), and two 100% Cannon-Cannon anti-missile turrets (3:3). Landing gear/roll cage with...

      Kupu's thread

It's been a while. Fell out of Starmade back when my comp could barely keep up, but rails and logic have me a little inspired again. We'll see what happens.
