I just recently came up with an idea: Why not make a clock in Star-Made on a planet, that uses gears to make hands move? I have seen quite a few digital clocks but not a classic one.

I decided to make a thread discussing the idea and where people (like me :P ) could post screenies of any they have made/are making.

Starting work on this asap! :)

Wouldn't you need rotating parts for that? You can get ships to move by themselves with push pulse hooked up to a logic clock, but how are you going to turn uniform linear motion into rotational motion?

And how would you make the gears? There isn't a mechanic in the vanilla game that will allow this.

I guess you could simulate it with logic and door blocks (I have seen at least two builds in Community Content that does this to simulate a turning fan or arcing electrical plasma), but it'll be easier to wait for the "Rail System" (tm).

I am going to make gears by using separate ships, I will also have a lever that is pushed/pulled by some shots on a logic loop to move a toothed bar. Any questions? :p

Note: I have used gears for a sliding door before... A clock should be possible.

This might work, but I have a feeling the collision detection is going to cause problems. I had a working piston built, until collision detection kicked in between the piston and cylinders and sent the piston flying off into the sun.

Here is a video of how a long thin ship fits and spins in my axle holes, might clear things up a bit. :)
Also note: I'm not going to have a hand on the clock for minutes, only hours. Due to a lack of thin parts. :P

Whoa. By Mata-Nui... I never thought that anyone would try to make gears in StarMade. Either way, that looks pretty neat, but how do those things not start jiggling all over the place, go into anti-stuck mode, and fall into the ground?

I don't even know. They turn pretty slow, and the collision detection seems less buggy than when I tried before.

    By Mata-Nui...
Someone on here actually knows about original Bionicle... Whoa

I know about original BIONICLE, I played LEGO Universe, and I actually still follow some of what the LEGO Corporation is doing... And I've been slowly collecting older BIONICLE sets via Bricklink. :3

I have the complete first bionicle set :D

Yea, gotta remake my system again. xP My clock tower was way too small for the optimal system, expect me to be busy for a while. :P
