I just installed windows 7 on a new HDD and I downloaded the game on STEAM again but when I start the game it seems I have lost all my ships, position, progress etc , etc in sandbox mode !! :(

Is this stuff not saved on a 'cloud' type server? for when you log in again? Like in ROBOCRAFT? :(

How can I get my ships back? I was working on a big ship and i don't want to loose all my many hours spent on it .. *sad face*

We currently don't support Steams's cloud service. It is likely to come in the future.

I see.. Okay, well I still have the game installed on another HDD with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS . Is there a way to copy my game files in to my windows 7 installation?

Yep, just copy all the files from the StarMade directory over to your new installation. Should be located here: Steam/SteamApps/common/StarMade

You don't have to copy all files for blueprints, they are all in the "blueprints" folder.

Robocraft doesn't actually have cloud save you know, everything is just on the server to start with. Starmade is similar in that regard, since if you are on a server, your Blueprints will be saved on that server by default, and will remain there even if you change computers.
Singleplayer doesn't have a server to save the blueprints to, so they are just saved locally to your computer.

As shown here, only games with the Cloud icon have single players (local files) that are saved to a cloud storage. Robocraft is more like an MMO, in the sense the robots are like "characters" saved to a server.

Just for future reference anyways, make sure to check for the cloud sync icon before assuming cloud saving.

That can be caused by the folder the installation is in being under admin protection. (which the steam folder usually is)
Simply relocate the installation to a different place (e.g. C:\StarMade).
You can do so in the installation settings accessible from the menu on the top left in the launcher.
