Implemented more news posts!

I recently tried to promote starmade a little bit and while posting the link to the website i noticed that the last news post is already 2 weeks old.
it would be very positive (first impression) to have more updates in that regard, it does not have to be anything from schema himself, for example Kupu could post the (awesome) stuff he would otherwise post in his thread.

Ever since the galaxy update I am feeling as if the development has slowed down. Even if it hasn't, we players don't hear anything for weeks at a time now. They can argue all they want, but it really wouldn't hurt to find more stuff to talk to us about. I definitely want them to get input from the players. It's not that I don't expect anything good, but they kinda announce things before asking the players. We saw this with that thruster mechanics thread, and recently the rail system. I kinda thought the health update was next. I have big concerns about and we know so little about it.

Omni and more curiously Calbiri appear to be MIA. I know schema is coding machine so i don't expect him to on the forums

We definitely need some more content. The twitter and News feeds are practically dead making the home page feel very much lifeless.

maybe some community spotlights could help spice things up

Last time I saw Calbiri talking in chat, he left basically saying he was disgusted because we were trashing on Tomato-sauce in chat, all while Kro was yelling after him on his way out about also causing drama. Could be why we don't see him around much these days.

Omni went MIA before the Christmas break and showed up again little more than a week ago. Probably busy with things in life I'd assume, they don't get paid after all, so real life jobs and stress is probably a factor.

i do agree that there should be more updates,not big lists or downloadable updates.
something like a small twitter post every 3-4 days,ex. just finished that/this ,lots of coffee spent,bla bla
that would keep me even more happy.

but for now,i know what is coming,i know they are working hard so it will come as soon as they are done.
so im happy

one thing is certain,some people (as we all know) are really toxic,and would take the soul out of me if i came here more often.
so i understand that hah

I wonder if there could be an automated news thing where blog updates, planned streams, new suggestion stamps, and/or development notes might be summarized by a script.

Example:
This week in StarMade:
Twitch Stream 1 [Link]

"Why don't we have milk blocks" marked "Denied"

I remember there being something in general discussion a while ago, a bit of an uproar over the apparent lack of updates and devs notes, which were only available if you watched the MF streams when Schema was on them.

Things like blogs and stuff were shot down because they take work to keep update, which is better focused on the game. In the end, they were planning to revive the official SM youtube channel with various hosts to do updates. No idea what came of that.

Probably because your area of expertise is more focused on the forum. While SMD is an integral part of the community, what attracts and keeps players is development progress on the actual game. In this case, your input is welcome but not as valued.

Like, when you're looking at picking up a new game, do you check out all the cool features/twitch integration into forum posts? Or do you see what kind of features/compatibility the actual game has.

The fact that we have only one person dealing with code makes things very slow. Problem is, we already lost pretty much everyone who we have gained on the steam release due to the lack of things to do/instability.

Nothing unfortunately. everyone involved seemed to have fallen back to their own channels. from the way things are going it would be better to leave the SM channel for official update info and have the Official new posts promote the youtube content of various players.

while i am seeing new people everyday, i have to agree. Thats why the steam release was so surprising to me. I had always figured that the Quest system would have been added first as a way to give new players something to do/a reason to build ships. Until its implemented i feel the game just isn't ready for mass distribution

What little was posted to the official channel was apparently not up to par with the standards they set. They took it down. That's fine. And frankly the content there wasn't really content. It was just 30 second videos directing people to videos from other people, primarily MF. Wouldn't have been a terrible thing if people weren't already trying to get away from MF content.

As someone who in fact dislikes Mushroom Fleet, I'm going to go ahead and warn you guys not to turn this into a "bash Mushroom Fleet here!" thread. Because I can see it coming from a mile away. I understand that MF (or at least, the devs' approach towards it) definitely might be be part of the problem, but... just don't take this too far. :p

I'll be looking into this. Be mindful though that us developers have day jobs and families and that we're spread across the four corners of the globe so if you don't hear anything for two weeks don't think it's the end of the world.
