    I feel that there should be more industrial and civilian installations in the game.

    To this end I have directed the journal Dry Empire towards a focus on this... continuing from the Mining Outpost production, the next most logical step is a Processing Plant.

    Sample pic below:


    Not-yet complete station. Still needs a few more habitation facilities added, a shuttle bay, a cargo wharf and storage area, and a bunch of greeble, junk, and scaffolding structure added.


    The completed station (minus point defense) is now available for download.

    Any thoughts? It's being built right now, so suggestions for additions very welcome!

    looks good, maybe add some little detailing here and there in a different color on the grey hull.

    Wow, this is nice. It looks like this should be in the game as a canon station, you know like the contest we had last year? Looking forward to updates.

    looks good, maybe add some little detailing here and there in a different color on the grey hull.
    Lots of detailing will be added. . However I prefer to use color as a highlight and trim on grey. .. I feel is more realistic than covering everything with paint... I can see other people would disagree as most shops I've seen are quite colorful. I prefer geometry detail to color detail. Personal preference i guess.

    Thanks ToyotaSupra. I will look that thread up. I want more stations in the game so hopefully i can find some to download.

    I expect the station to be complete and released as a blueprint in about 5 or 6 days... Will update the thread then.

    Well good luck to you. I think dry docks are on the to do list, and if they are then you can guarantee there will be dry dock contests. Hope to see this one on the list!

    Well it's not really a dry-dock, that's coming up further on in the journal... I have some really powerful ideas for those!

    This one is just a basic processing plant with a small wharf facility.

    One of my future projects is a huge ring-station that includes a tonne of stuff including drydocks, ports, housing, malls, mining facilities, industrial areas, the whole shibang... but we'll see how I go, don't want to bite off more than I can chew... just building one thing at a time as logically fits into the growth of the fictional empire I'm building.

    The next one I'll produce after this one is a factory station, which will include worker housing and a small commercial area... recreational facilities, etc. After that will be a manufactory which will be used to role-play the production of pre-built tech items (such as the Pisces triple generator shown in this post). These items then have a role-played avenue for being published as blueprints and used by other players in their builds to speed things up... things like generators, shield units, pre-built turrets, armor plates, storage tanks, fuel cells, that kind of thing... pre-built modules that can simply be loaded and plopped onto a build.

    The naked bits of the station (all the guts and systems) are now fully operational. All it needs now is some armor and defenses... currently the station is being escorted by a frigate and a corvette, but it is planned to have a defensive matrix that will dwarf the fire power of these two vessels, and make this the single most defended installation in Dry Empire space.


    The suspended plasma ovens convert matter into encapsulated materials ready for industry.


    The control tower oversees the cargo docks, including the wharf crane, cargo containers, and all docked traffic.


    Underside of the station, where most of the support systems, cabling, conduits and fluid transfer systems are housed.


    Top side of the station shows most of the critical systems, including the two storage cryovats, the battery of three matter converters, the shield dome, two energy batteries, the 8 pisces-class generators on the left of the station, the habitation areas at the leading edge of the station, and the original seed mining outpost on the right. The yellow and grey free-floating structures are shipping containers filled with parts for the continuing build, set adrift just outside dock, as the docks are currently full. Docks are visible between the shield dome and the mining outpost wing, just beneath the connecting gangway.

    Thoughts?

    The station is now complete in it's raw form (ie, without any point defense), and available for download.



    It comes fitted with two shipping containers (blue and alloy as shown above), a WDU docked above the framework hangar, and a single cargo pod docked in the micro-shuttle bay. (Micro-shuttles not included).

    The refinery is fully operational, simply drop your raw resources into the drop box on the shipping docks, and collect the refined goods from a nearby output box when the refinery has finished doing it's job. Decent quantities of ores and shards can be processed as the station has 240 capsule refineries operating in parallel, all funneling from and back to the shipping docks for convenience.

    I am now working on the point defense (which will include turrets, anti-missile micro-turret batteries, double-redundancy shields, battlements protecting vital systems, and a fighter bay with fighters docked as a permanent compliment to the station). When completed I'll release that version for download also.

    The station is protected by a Mentor Class Shield Generator sphere (which can be seen in the above pic)...
