The main salvage lag is from people devouring planets. Some sort of slow but infinite ore generation from planets so people don't salvage the things would really help with this.

On topic: be patient. Schema is a lone developer. We'll get it eventually.
Schema certainly has his own way of doing things. Seeing development for a couple years now, it's clear that he likes to add features first and fix stuff second (he's also stated this himself, something to do with it being easier to work it all out once everything is in).

However, since this is on Steam now, and theres a ton of bugs filling up the bug tracker...isn't now a good time to change that process and get things nice and stable? I'm sure most of us would rather have bugs fixed than a GUI update?

Alpha means features come first and bug fixes come second. This game is not ready for a beta, either, where it's the opposite. If you can't deal with that, take a break from the game until it's in beta, where bug fixing for final release is the priority.

Alpha is not necessarily the most stable thing to play. It's for testing out features.

The game being in alpha doesn't mean this kind of stuff shouldn't be brought to attention. But you shouldn't demand it be fixed and tell him how he should prioritize the order in which stuff for his game gets done.

Got you to click (retard), now vote.

Do you feel that salvager ships mining stuff absolutely destroys server stability? Decently large servers like Elwyn and Hyper-Core are experiencing such issues. Players are dropping like flies. If you're an admin and have server logs that can back this up, say something in a reply (or say something anyways I don't care). I know when I mine with a small-medium sized salvager on a planet everyone whines and pings shoot through the roof.

    "It's in Alpha, shut up!"
    No.
can't wait til this is fixed, then we will be able to fight like this without lag!

Sure thing. I guess wanting the game to be actually playable over new features means I don't understand what (perpetual) Alpha is.

The game is still missing a ton of core features. HP, creatures, AI factions, AI fleet control, etc. It's definitely not one of those perpetual alpha games that have all core features but slap on an "Early Access Alpha" sticker to avoid criticism.

The game is quite playable. If servers are lagging because of people eating planets, for now, consider solving the problem yourself by getting admins to make that kind of thing bannable, or make your own server.

This should definitely be fixed. And wow, Schema plans on fixing it after the GUI update! Would you look at that. The dev knows his game needs to be in a playable state in multiplayer without salvage lag.

Ask to make the main (non-exploit) resource acquisition method in the game bannable? Nice.

Anyways, this isn't going anywhere. I can admit some of us are impatient with one-man programmer alpha progress and direction. I use to repeat the same shit you're saying to me to others. But hell, I think the public being vocal about key issues is important too, not just being quiet and hoping it'll get fixed soon or repeating "it's alpha!" ad nauseam.

I wonder how far off beta is. Just getting those features you've mentioned is going to be at least another year with one man working on it.

The public should definitely be vocal about these kinds of issues. But you probably shouldn't demand that he drop what he's doing and fix this instantly, because, while it does cause lag on larger servers, the game is certainly still playable without it being fixed.

And at least he's got someone else to do balancing, now.
