Hello! i have a bit of a problem when it comes to launching/loading starmade.

i have been playing the game perfectly fine for the past 3 days. However today i was occasionally given the in-game warning that my memory was getting low, or that i was running out of memory. So i went searching about the internet to find a way to fix this problem with the memory. ( before i went changing the memory the LAST time i launched/loaded into the game successfully i was given the in-game error/warning that i had NO more memory and the game then commenced to freeze up and i had to restart my PC.

So now my current issue is this: When i start the game (through steam) it brings up the launcher, witch works fine and dandy. I proceed to click "start game" where the connection window pops up as normal and then go on to click "OK". Starmade then boots up and i see the "Thanks for playing Starmade" screen with the random Tips. At the top left of the screen it shows the % of loading into the game. it goes as far as 94% and stops. The following error then occurs - CRITICAL ERROR "GL Exception : GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY"

I am not an extremely software-savy person so please put any help as simply as possible lol (sorry)

Ill do pretty much whatever it takes to repair or successfully play your game once again; I really love and enjoy the game. :)
    Thanks, - Sinlessmortal

Try increasing your memory settings(you can access them from the "settings" menu within the launcher(the one that also updates the game).

Hello Simlessmortal Here are the steps to fix your issue

Step one Open starmade And get to this menu

    Click on "Memory Settings"
    Step two

Find Maximal Memory seen here under "Cilent&singleplayer Dont worry about Server we are not going to be using that
Set the maximal memory to 7024 IF you have 8GB of RAM it is very important to know how much ram you have
If you have 4GB of ram Set it to 3024
And if you have 2GB of ram set it to 1024
You can find your ram amount by right clicking Computer Or my computer on the windows start menu and then clicking properties that will give you some basic info including ram

I hope i have given you helpful info and if you need anything else please just reply to my post. Thank you for using the starmade forum!

Thank you both for the helpful information. This is what I tried to do before when I first saw the memory problem. However when I make the settings anything over 1024 the game does not launch. The launcher just closes and nothing happens. I do have 4gb of ram.

Update to Java 64bit if you are using Windows 64bit. Then make sure the drivers are the most bleeding up to date version especially if you are using an Intel i-series.

You MUST match editions. Always use 64bit with 64bit. This includes your Java AND drivers.

alright so i installed the new 64bit Java and made sure my drivers were up to date, and it works now! thank you all very much for the help!

i would like to note, that after restarting my computer i went to launch starmade and it through a critical error again, both the error window and the launcher window was completly white so i dont know what error it was. i tried playing the game about 3 times then i restarted steam and tried launching and it works fine! :D i have set the maximal memory so 3024 as suggested. However i did leave the other two settings where they were.
Thank you again, Zackey, megacrafter, and warsong for the patience and help. :)
