Hello folks.
I just started playing star made yesterday. And what do I have to say, I realy like it. A bit like a mix of EVE-Online and Minecraft.
To get to the plot!
I have various complications orienting myself when I'm in the map [p]:
1. I don't know where my ship is heading to.
2. When I move "the box" with the movement keys (WASD..) I don't see the coordinates where the box is.
3. When I see a shop-station on the map, I can't find out the coordinates (except "the box" somehow).
4. There are quiet too much white stars in the background. Yes it might be that I can deactivate them in the config. But, sorry, it used to be different.
Suggestions:
ad 1. Please don't set the current position by setting a ship in a "block" which seems to always head towards the top of my screen.
Make the graphic head to where the ship heads to. And perhaps / please (!!!), draw a small line through it that I can see where I will end up when I just press [W] . This will help very very much.
ad 2. At the top I can see my current coordinates. Why not making a second line in the color of the box which show the coordinates of the box.
ad 3. To solve the "I see you, but I don't really know where you are"-Problem it might be useful to:
- see the coordinates when hovering over it
- add the possibility to set all celestial components with a right click as a waypoint or show up a drop down, where the user can choose this option.
ad 4. What if we make two tabs. The first one "System view" or "Region view" which is only just having the current system within it. The second one "galaxy view" or "cluster view" is what you now see using [p].
Some of my suggestions might be more work some might be less. The advice in 1 is, from my point of view, the most helpful and, as I assume, the less challenging of 'em all.
Thanks a lot,
continue the great work,
Vaganza.
