pirates salvage the ships they kill

    it seems quite pointless for pirates to bother attacking you and just sitting there and staring at your wreck. would be nice if pirates had salvage beams on them and mined ships they killed.

    This would be very cool. Especially with multiple AI factions. (single player faction wars! I'll get the popcorn....) I think they should have tiny (maybe only one or two blocks) salvage systems, so that they are forced to hang around large wreckage for a while, putting them into the "hunted" role for an extended amount of time during clean-up operations.

    yes exactly, this is a small step towards fully immersive ai factions. i disagree with them having 1-2 block salvage systems (that would take forever to salvage even the small 100 mass ships)

    Fair enough, but consider that there will be 4 or 5 survivors from the fight, all salvaging at the same time. (Including the creepy possibility of destroyed ships from their own faction, maybe, so it could be back down to a single ship salvaging one wreck.) I just don't want to see an AI faction have a hundred-beam array on a ship and able to melt a single ship in seconds, like ordinary players do. (Or maybe I'm outnumbered and most players would like to see that? It'll clear the battlefield quickly, and someone who might want a piece of the action will have less time before the scavengers move on....)
