Most of the respectably-sized servers have a larger active playerbase on Teamspeak than the forums alone.

Then just build a shell. Even if we know were told how it works, we wouldn't be told the formulas as well (People like to nitpick about possibilities and theories before even having a chance to try it), so you couldn't really be able to build in advance anyways.

Even that will change soon. Most large ships are required to have turrets onboard with very little in the way of primary weapons to ensure they cannot be out-maneuvered. Once the turret turning nerf is applied, turrets will become much more specialized.

On teamspeak we like to strategize and share ship building strategies, and how the new update(s) will change our habits.

If they release it it'll just split the community again along lines of "this is how it should work". People will leave because they don't like it even though the have not (and might refuse to) tried it. Want to build for the next update? Wait for it to release or become an active build tester. I honestly neither mind, nor expect otherwise than for them to keep it secret until its in a refined playable form.
