New support effect idea: Heavily reduces your weapon's range in exchange for increasing it's damage about half as much (thus, 90% reduction in range gives you a 45% increase in damage output).

Unsure what it's defensive effect would be.

    Thoughts?

Anyway, what you're looking for is the shotgun effect from missile slaves on cannons and beams. The shotgun effect essentially causes damage to become much more powerful, but it has reduced range due to spread.

    Whoops.

No, I mean reducing range without reducing accuracy - you could then, for example, use beam/cannon/this and have a short-range lightsaber mounted on your fighter.

The shotgun effect also doesn't increase damage output IIRC, just splits it into separate blasts

Swarmmissiles (AFAIK) have one of the highest damage outputs in the game per block. I had a small, 10k mass frigate with swarmers as a secondary deal 4mil damage to a single target at one point. Talk about evil. I had a 35k mass ship die instantly to it ;)
