    What's a Steam Game without Steam Achievements?

    Let's give the dev team some ideas. (Maybe only possible on certain, official, public servers?)

    Examples:
    first 100-m ship (100 meters long in any dimension): Lt. Long
    first 200-m ship: Cpt. Ovindustry
    first 300-m ship: Maj. Chon Struktion
    first 500-m ship: Col. Popcorn
    first 1-km ship: Gen. Chaos
    one million blocks placed: Bricklayer
    100 million blocks placed: Foreman
    place a pink/purple block: Friend Builder (thinking of the Friends line of Lego blocks)
    kill 5 ships without dying: Zero Gee Ace
    kill 25 ships without dying: Zero Gee Red Baron
    First system slave link: Twisted Engineer
    1000 system slave links: Mad Scientist
    First placed space station: Homebuyer
    1000 placed space stations: Zero Gee Realty Agent
    1,000,000 placed space stations: Zero Gee Tycoon
    500 blocks salvaged: Workin' in a Coal Mine
    1,000,000 blocks salvaged: Planet Eater

    And maybe in honor of joining steam, the devs could create a simple steam pipe block. Maybe even a red "valve" block. Could be a generator for steam-like particle effects. No? *ducks*

    Edit: Maybe a million blocks salvaged should only be "Asteroid-Eater. Planet-Eater would be maybe 2 billion blocks.

    Also, we could make achievements for factories, like :

    -> Humble handicraft
    ( 1000 blocks produced in factories of one type )

    -> Promising crafter
    ( 10000 blocks produced in factories of one type )

    -> Massive production facility
    ( 100000 blocks produced in factories of one type )

    Sorry to burst your bubble, but the problem is, that there is no steam API for java. As such, making things like achievements is nearly impossible.

    Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

    I would like a steam particle effect emitter, though. (Logic-driven would be great for periodic steam ventings or for use in airlocks.)

    Why should people get achievements for building a line of 100 blocks or place and remove blocks until 1 million is reached? And why should only steam users get these?

    For the same reason players get low-level achievements in other games. It encourages new players to keep playing for the sake of a shiny reward, with the hidden agenda of making them experience more content and become more familiar with the game. However, without a Steam Java API, it's a moot point. Maybe someone could someday make a customizable achievements mod.

    Minecraft-style achievements would make more sense.

    I looked up Minecraft-style achievements. That looks like a good way to get new players into the tutorials. Good idea.
