Because I would like to test on my singleplayer how fighter vs big ship combat would go down if there weren't any shields, and they just relied on the armour!

guys that doesnt answer his question. he dpesn't want half-effective treatments or workarounds, he wants to know how to remove them from the game or disable them.
EDIT: Thank you @Comr4de for answering their question.

on the subject of shieldless ship warfare, that'd actually be quite interesting, if HP mechanics were put in place for ships and coring was no longer an option. however, due to the extensively difficult-to-repair damage scenarios involved in such a scenario, an automatic ship repair mechanic would need to be added too (ship repair docks?). still, combat without shields between fighters and capships would be VERY fun, i imagine. both parties would have a more even playing field (that's assuming the above supplementary conditions are met).

try setting <ShieldCapacityInitial>55</ShieldCapacityInitial> and <ShieldCapacityTotalMul>55</ShieldCapacityTotalMul> to zero in the blockBehaviorConfig.xml There are other shield settings in there you could mess with if that doesn't work.

haha exactly Planr, that's what I want to do! Actually, if you have blueprints buy with blocks - you can build block your ship and just buy a new one if you happen to have a few of the blocks you lost (unless you took major damage :D) And also, people with big ships will not always want to pick on smaller fighters in risk of scratching their ship xD

Way back when, Tectem Clementia (or however it's spelled) was sort of like this. The combat focus was on missiles (back when they were weaker) and hull, with shields and AMCs being weak.
