Importance of Exploration

    How do these ideas sound?

    • Good! These should be added!

    • Eh, they don't sound that cool.

    • I agree on some, but not others (post in comments)

First of all, I would like to say that once you find a station and a shop by each other, exploration is done, you found what you need. Well, this suggestion would allow that, but make it rarer. Here are some of the idea:
    1. Tiered Items:
    -Hand Weapons
    -Thrusters
    -Power Reactors
    -Power Capacitators
They would be found on shops in those cities on forest planets. Only 1 of the 4 would be in each city.
    2. Nerf the shop.
Replace 4/5 of the shops with junk shops, which sell lower then average items.
Replace about 1/15 with Black Market shops.
Black Market shops would look like normal shops but have the sectors random hint that it's black market (like a patch of black)
Junk shops would be a beat up corvette with non-functioning guns and thrusters.
To find a sectors (or star system's) black market symbol you would need to find a black market ship. They would be a whole new faction that is take captive on contact relationship with the trading guild.
Radar Jammers, Cloakers, Power Drain Beams, Shield Drain Beams, etc. would be deleted from the normal shop and be moved to black market shops.
All shops would have a button to ask for the black market panel (because black market shops are normal ones too.), If the shop is a normal shop you will be confronted by the trading guild, otherwise, you will get access to the black market items.
    3. Storylines.
Add a lore to starmade! the logbooks should be connected in some way so if you find the sector of a planet from a log book and go there, you might find the captain's ship crashed on a planet or something! That would add alot of mystery and fun to starmade.

"cities on forest planets" and "logbooks" - are these things in the dev build or have they been recently added?

zomg i have much yet to learn
to be fair, the first time i found a city on a planet i too spazzed out and was moments from posting a new thread saying "HEY GUYS THERES A NEW HIDDEN FEATURE IN THE RELEASE, SMALL CITIES ZOMG" lol. but alas better judgment prevailed and i found out from other members that they had been a round for a while. youll also occasionally find pyramids on dessert planets. but they are unfortunately underwhelming (when they generate properly and arent cut off) and leave you wanting more.

that's funny, because i did actually find a pyramid. the fact that it was cut off didn't phase me, i figured, hey it's an acient ruin. and i made my base there for a while.

I'm hoping they use pretty much all of the quality station entries rather than just a few. There would be dozens of stations to find and explore.

As for exploration, I completely agree. They need to figure out a way of spawning quests in so they are A: somewhat unique, B: infinitely repeatable, and C, mean something to an overall goal.

Perhaps create a system where players can add quest content, and there is a chance another player in another server in another galaxy will experience that content.
