Heya guys, so my new build is comming along really nicely :) ill post pics of my warship or battleship once its completed. I made some really decent turrets or at least i like to think i did lol i tried to balance things out like someone suggested and got 26K for shielding.

My question however is this, i have tried to setup my turrets to attack selected target, It does attack however it only attacks the pirate red ships but nothing else. I tried to destroy a target ship i made for practice on but it wont even look at it. What am i doing wrong here?

Secondly, is there a way to remotely configure the bobby AI settings of a turret so that i dont have to leap out and slowly traverse my way there? Would be nice to have some kinda way to change that in the midst of battle without having to run across the deck if u will to manually change it all.

I have spent the last 3 days mining, scrapping down ships and bases and what not :) cant wait to show you guys my first decent ship :) Thanks in advance for the help guys. Once my friend and I get a better understanding of what we're doing, imma host a lil private server for those interested :)

AI won't shoot at ships that do not belong to an enemy faction. Guess you can't test turrets on anything other than pirates. If you use admin commands, this isn't a big problem as you can change the faction status of said target to enemy (pirate).

If by configuring you mean switching between select target or automatic fire, then no, sadly. You can activate/deactivate turrets from the ship though, so it's not all that bad. And you can quickly move between the ship core and turrets with arrow keys (they need to be in the same faction as the ship or the turret dock needs a faction permission module otherwise this won't work).

If you want to target neutrals in SP.
    1. make a faction and faction block everything you want to live.
    2. In faction screen set all neutrals to hostile.
Now your turret will fire at the dummy ship.

    1) From experience, I can tell that turrets with the "fire at selected target" setting (not sure about the "any" setting) will only work when you select an entity that is either controlled by AI or by a player. It basically won't shoot inert objects like asteroids or stations. There also seems to be a bug that will make your turrets refuse to fire if you activated them in the same sector as your target. You may have to leave the sector and come back if you want if to work (assuming that the enemy ship is AI or player controlled).

    2) You can activate and deactivate turrets (independently or all) by using the structure tab. Simple go in the "turret docking system collective" and it will have the option to do so. NOTICE: the "undock all" button is located right beside it (and is identical apart from the label), so be sure to press the right one! As of now, there is no way to mass change the target selection method, unfortunately.

One last thing: you can faction every turret at once by factioning the ship, leaving the ship and the sector it's in and waiting for it to subsequently unload. Once you reload the sector all turrets and ships docked inside your main ship should be factioned.

    I hope that this helps!!!

If you only have few turrets, you could just undock and re-dock them. That has the same effect, and might be quicker than leaving the sector.

I don't thing "select target" will shoot at asteroids planets stations or unmanned ships.
