    Hello All,

After I made a small landing area with a docking spot on the surface next to my first foothold on a planet, I noticed that when I dock on that spot the server throws out the warning message "cannot dock here! target not compatible".

As you can see the docking went just fine, therefore this message has me puzzled. Am I missing something here, does the ship maybe needs a docking port too (it hasn't at the moment), or is this a known issue?

Are you using a turret dock or a regular dock?
This message is thrown when you try to dock a ship to a turret dock, and the ship has more than 1 layer of blocks below the core.
Try using the regular dock and enhancers if you arent already.

Titansmasher Na it comes up all the time when it shouldn't, i've been having this happen for ages. I just never figured it was worth mentioning, there are bigger bugs than incorrect error messages.
It also can't have been the wrong dock with blocks below the core, because:

By the way, no the ship that is being docked does not need a docking module.

Well, to be precise, I did / do use the normal docking block and enhancers and yes I did see the tutorial about turrets, so I know there are two docking versions and I'm sure I used the right one here. ;-)

From your responses I gather it's a bug then, thanks for the info.

I get this error from time to time too. From what I can gather, the error pops up when the dock beam hits another block that is not the docking module. I've always put it down to sometimes when I dock, the beam hits both the dock module and the block beside it, because when I have a module floating in the air with nothing around it I never get the error (remotely connected enhancers).

@K10wN: If this happens more often when the docking beam hits other blocks as well as the docking block itself, then that's probably the case here too since the docking block is flush with the surface of the planet and from some distance the aiming cross is notably not that precise. ;-)

I won't moan about that there's no docking animation and the positioning is instantaneous, but I still think that it's a bug if the docking block is hit besides other(s) and there's an error or warning message. :)
