but it has nothing to do with Schine, so what the fuck are you on about with "honest/accurate news"

Schine has already told us why development is currently slow,
I said exactly what I meant and the fact that this thread is called "semiannual yawn" and it's rapidly approaching half a year since any annoucement from Schine seems eerily fitting. Hence; "radio silence".

The sever list closing is quite literally the only concrete info I've gotten about this game since January. Hence; "honest/accurate news".

QF is a fucking community thing so go poke them and help with balancing
Quickfire is NOT a "community run" project. This has been repeatedly mentioned and explained to you.
Starmade-Servers is unaffiliated with Schine so it's not really news in any shape or form tbh.
Though the info is about a third party product, the site closing serves as a reminder about current interest in the game.

At the time of this post, there are 13 players across all in-game-listed servers. I don't see that as a good sign.

it's not been half a year since Zev last was on here, so no it's not already the time for news in this thread. Your point is irrelevant.

so you're ignoring the stuff in the starmade discord, good for you I guess.

So it's not community members that have made QF? Schine has set it up and made sure to get people to try and balance the game for them?
QF is a community driven project that Schine has chosen to implement.
But yes the game is basically dead.
In fact I've recorded a maximum amount of total players at around 53 since I started recording around November.

Read it again. No cherry picking this time... "...and it's rapidly approaching half a year since any annoucement from Schine seems eerily fitting. Hence; "radio silence".

Not hearing anything since late january is pretty relevant. Especially since multiple QF configs have come out since then. July will be her before you know it.

so you're ignoring the stuff in the starmade discord, good for you I guess.
Discord is an inefficient way of conveying information to a large group; many of whom are spread across the globe and using it at different times of day.

With that having been said; I have checked Discord and I've seen nothing of relevance since January. If it happens to be in a less than obvious spot or casually mentioned in general chat, then refer to my previous statement about it being an inefficient means of conveying information. As such; if you think I'm going to stalk the general chat; lying in wait for something of relevance to eventually be said in between the endless piles of idle chit chat, then you're sorely mistaken.

So it's not community members that have made QF? Schine has set it up and made sure to get people to try and balance the game for them? QF is a community driven project that Schine has chosen to implement.
Let's not put words in each other's mouths. You know exactly what I'm referring to and this has been explained to you already.

A small clique of players working to force their own chosen, limited scope play-style/build-style at the expense and exclusivity of all others, while rejecting/ignoring any input that conflicts with their agenda, is many things; though "community driven" is not one of them.

The fact that Schine has formally adopted their configs doesn't change this.

But yes the game is basically dead.

Do you mean 53 active players online at the same time or 53 separate logins since november?[/QUOTE]

The latest info wasnt in an announcement of any kind
They should do a proper one though

Discord is fine if you know how to use it and if the majority of your community is in it, there is a reason we force people to join our discord in order to join CBS. If you're not in the discord you're probably missing out on relevant info but thats just too bad for you

No I dont, what it sounds like is that you're saying QF is something Schine made

Everyone could have joined and even if it's a small amount of people it's still a fucking community project as they are part of the community. It's not their fault that more people havent joined and tried to help. Yes they have ignored a lot of people, and with fair reasoning as those people have just said "ugh this sucks why is my ship not OP anymore" which is no help

You could have joined and helped, so I could I. I chose to stay out as I knew I wouldnt be able to help much and you for some reason arrived late to the party.

53 online at the exact same time, no I havent set my bot to record the average

The point of the thread is clear. If you don't see the relevance in what I said, then that is your limitation; hence why you cherry pick.

The latest info wasnt in an announcement of any kind

Therein lies the point of what I said. If you post critical info in an easy to find, centralized location, it will be seen, if you don't, it won't be. Regardless of your personal opinion, if you aren't putting your important announcements in a centralized place that everyone can see without hunting for them or waiting for someone to casually mention them, then you don't get to claim that the infomation "should have been seen".

No I dont, what it sounds like is that you're saying QF is something Schine made
Yeah, you do and you know damn well that I never said Schine created QF. Go back to the other thread if you doubt this or are unclear about those examples you were given.

Everyone could have joined and even if it's a small amount of people it's still a fucking community project as they are part of the community.
So "A" community within the StarMade community? A handful of players and their buddies who convinced Schine to allow their own personal preference to become the default for the game; whilst ignoring the input from the rest of the actual communty... That's your fallback?

It's not their fault that more people havent joined and tried to help. Yes they have ignored a lot of people, and with fair reasoning as those people have just said "ugh this sucks why is my ship not OP anymore" which is no help

You could have joined and helped, so I could I. I chose to stay out as I knew I wouldnt be able to help much and you for some reason arrived late to the party.
When you purposely alter the game in such a way that creates one effective play-style/build-style and renders all others ineffective, don't be surprised when people call you out on it; politely or non-politely.

...but of course, that also makes you a bit of a hypocrite; considering your first response to me on this thread was "What the fuck are you on about?".

Observe that unlike QF, I gave an adult response to your childish outburst; engaging with you in a two-way discussion rather than disrepecting you, dismissing your input outright or throwing out endless tangents to divert you from the issue you commented on. ...as was done to me there when I DID try to help.

So yeah; Most people don't contribute anymore. And yes, it IS their fault.

53 online at the exact same time, no I havent set my bot to record the average
That's actually pretty encouraging. Much better than the 13 I saw yesterday and the 17 I saw last time I checked before that. IF the universe update comes out, things may change but I get the impression from those I'm still in touch with that a lot of people won't be coming back. Only time will tell.

A community is a community. Just because it's not balanced the way *YOU* prefer it doesn't change that or magically turn this into a conspiracy level thing. You can eaaaasily reconfig the game just as much as they have. Schine opted for Quickfire because it seemed to be the most popular configuration for balancing available and the aftermath of Power 2.0 left balance utterly gone and murdered the community's ability to create.

Want to make such a fuss about it? Make your own config Whammy. Nothing is stopping you. Buck up.

    No.

A small subset of the StarMade community is NOT the actual StarMade Community. Also, they have consistently demonstrated that they are not balancing anything but rather building the game their clique wants. As such; singling me out for pointing this out does not invalidate all the others who have made the same observations.

    Incorrect.

If everyone understood how to work in the game's XML files without causing constant crashes/corrupted universes or actually knew which entries led to which effects/configs, then I would have already done exactly that; as would many others. We wouldn't be having this discussion and QF wouldn't be a concern.

Also, Power 2.0 wasn't the problem. It was was scrapping system HP in favor of reactor HP. But that's a discussion for another thread.

Much like the config change complaints let's have some numbers here instead of throwing around generalizations.
How many are part of the QF discord? How many could be considered part of the total community? (At least 53 I guess) How many are part of the actual starmade community that provide said ignored input? I don't recall much data-based counter-points to the QF changes other than Dr. Whammy's but I seem to remember it turned out some of his data was flawed due to weird constantly-bugged config values on his end. No?

I don't discord either. Probably cuz boomer.

Gonna be playing Dwarf Fortress 1.0 before the universe update at this rate lol.

That's not something I throw around lightly and while I'm not OCD enough to go and record every single instance of this that I notice, there are quite a few examples of players citing poor balance and biased/arbitrary decision making by QF. If you want data on that, then you'll need to go looking for them or pay more attention when someone brings up a balance concern instead of writing them off; as is commonly done. When I visited QF's Discord, I saw two examples of this on the first day alone, in addition to the nonconstructive responses I got. ...to data-based feedback.

I saw similar instances of this on every subsequent visit, which is what made me decide to stop going there.

Actually, that has yet to be determined. I never got a definitive answer from anyone on QF despite listing all the steps I took; including a complete reinstall of the game.

The most I got was... "Someone could have been just experimenting on the server and left configs changed. There were more radical changes made to see how things will work. Release/dev version doesn't pull the configs from the QF GitHub constantly only when some changes were solidified."

The other player and I who ended up discussing the issue never reached a conclusion; due to lack of information from QF.

The game has aged about as well as a fine wine in a cellar, rotated every 6 months so the sedimentary decay in the bottle can flow the other way whilst keeping the cork wet.

Back in 2017 the starside community put the clock at a 2025 release and the more I visit this place the more realistic that timeline seems to become.
We are patient.... but some of us are gonna have lives beyond gaming before this game matures into a state where duration of wait for seminal developments hassnt completely killed off the original playerbase.
Especially since some of us donated funds towards Shine in realizing their project
Aside from the knowledge that these donations were voluntary, we did invest a limited level of expectation of a `reasonable` timeline.

At current rate I can show my grandkids this game the day it comes out in full release client

They are, after the universe update.

They've said that Steam gives them only so many free "Bring your game back to the front of the advertising list" pushes, and that they have not used any of them yet.

That they are looking to wrap up and potentially go Beta after the universe update, and that they will begin actual advertising at that point.

    Hey.
Logged on now to see if that promised playerbase increase was held. I'm sorry to see that it was delivered 😒

    Interesting timing.

There have recently been some interesting developments with regard to the Universe update. This has spurred a bit of offline activity, though there's no way to know how much.

    Schema's annoncement on Discord

EDIT (incase the link to their discord doesn't work)

Their new prebuild requires a new launcher. Releases · garretreichenbach/New-StarMade-Launcher

It's likely buggy at this stage so I recommend setting up a fresh vanilla install that is separate from your main install in case something breaks.
