    Hello,

In this new version, it is announced that the beam between the stabilizers and the reactor has been removed and if I understood correctly, it would be possible to put it back with the system of rules:

« Remove reactor stabilization beam (can be re-added by rules »

That said, despite several attempts I did not succeed, on the other hand, I did not find information on the handling of this system of rules and I have difficulties to use it.

Do you have any advice to suggest to me or a procedure to follow in order to put back the beam that I found pretty in my ships?

thank you in advance for your help

I would also like to know how to turn the Reactor Stabilization beams back on.
I tend to build my ships from a visual perspective and the reactor beams were amazing to me when they were first introduced. I don't play the game often (because i cycle through a lot of different things) but I always come back. I am currently working on a ship that takes heavy advantage of the beams but when I logged in to continue, they were not there.

    Balance

Two major changes to balance are:
    • Stabilization beam between reactor and stabilizers is removed
    • Integrity is removed
However, with the rules system both of these functions can be restored.
To paraphrase the previous posters, "Yes, but please do tell how?"

I too like the beams for their visual effect, and having played a while without, I think I'd prefer to have them back...

On a single player instance, I have been trying "Sector; Sector Range; Sector->Player; Enable Energy Stream", "Player; Always true; Player->Entity; Enable Energy Stream", as well as "Player; Always true; Player->Sector; Sector->Player; Enable Energy Stream", and possibly even a few more; none of them succeeded in enabling the energy stream.

I haven't yet tried to see if it makes a difference on a dedicated server.

Not sure what you are trying with sector, you would want entity...
you will need to "send to server", and possibley restart the client.

Tested right now, "Entity; Always true; Enable Energy Stream" works as intended; you don't need to "send to server" on single player, and you don't need to restart the client even if you added the rule from within the game.

    Hindsight is 20/20... thanks Morphix.

    EDIT: Enable Stabilizer Energy Stream

You're not the first person I heard saying they like the beam's visuals. Perhaps in the future a purely visual and optional beam generating block could be added to the game? It could even come in multiple colors.

I don't think that would be the same – for one, it would require you to manufacture and place additional blocks when often space is at a premium; the energy stream comes as a "freebie", if you will. It also provides a bit of a challenge to aesthetically integrate it into a build, which I see as part of its charm.

I think having it as an option is the best of both worlds – it just needs to be better documented, but that goes for much of StarMade (at least once it leaves its eternal alpha state; it doesn't make sense for the devs to spend a lot of time documenting a moving target).

Perhaps control the colour by slaving a colour block the way we do with core+colour block for thruster plume colours.
Also have and activator slaved to control whether it is active or not.
The number of activators could perhaps control other functions, like animation speed, opacity, pattern, etc.

Leading the stream where you want it to be already takes extra blocks, called Stream Nodes, doesn't it?

And think about this: when you load in a ship that was built under the no stream rule in your world where the streams are on; probably it'll be an ugly mess with the stream cutting through some interior parts.
Conversely, when a stream-decorated ship is loaded into a non streamy world, the player will be looking at a lot of nothing.

Not necessarily; quite a lot can be done with careful placement of reactors and stabilizers, without even using nodes. Much of the time it's possible to simply design around the streams. Of course using nodes opens up more options.

Of course, but you can also disable the logic connections in your config files; ships built that way will likely look like a terrible mess of logic spaghetti on default settings...

I guess it all comes down to personal preference, but I'll take ship that was built with a few extra node blocks, with streams in mind, over a ship that was built without them.
If I don't have streams enabled, it's no biggie to delete the few blocks if I'm really pressed for space or resources; otherwise I can just leave them in with no serious drawbacks. On the other hand, if I play with streams enabled, it'll take a lot more effort to adjust stream routing as an afterthought.

The beams are back since the v0.201.364 it seems to me.

however, can we hope for example documentation on the use of the rule system?
