That is stupid, if you can't handle someone being harsh on a forum then don't be in it.
How does finding somebody toxically complaining about others' toxicity to be hypocritical imply that I cannot handle said toxicity. I believe it does not and suspect that you have erred in comprehending the context for I share your stated opinion.

I don't think he was "toxically complaining", our definitions of "toxic" must be highly different.

Being intentionally harsh is being toxic...
    I was pretty clear on my stance. My definition is pretty close to Merriam-Webster's relative to it's use;

    Definition of
    toxic

    (Entry 1 of 3)

3 : extremely harsh, malicious, or harmful.

Perhaps your definition of toxic is highly wrong then. Colloquial use of fashionable words is frequently so.

No please, let me see how the 3 and 9 post accounts contribute to this forum. They allready did so well by talking about anything else except about the game. It's marvelous.
Indeed, I want to see how many fancy words they can come uo with

Honestly, many of the forums I've used most in the past I never even visit "General" because it's invariably full of garbage like this and little of use.

Problem here, is that - in a game about building spaceships - we have no topical sub-forum to talk about building where this kind of sh... stuff is off topic and would be bounced into General or Off-Topic.

We've a "Shipyard" forum, but you aren't allowed to talk engineering in there, so... General it is, and this tripe it is.

Maybe someday they will open an Engineering forum the way they have one just for Logic. Maybe a Design forum where the RP/aesthetic builders can be as well. Maybe a forum specially for Combat Engineering. You know... places like that, where your topics aren't sunk under pages of trolling and bickering because that stuff can actually be removed to General...

This is a great idea for brainstorming, why don't we pitch it to the mods?

It's just not written with that purpose in mind. And I said brainstorming. Why not make a forum thats called "development meta" where all garbage "Schine sux" shit gets dumped?
Killer. Yeah. Let's brainstorm this shit. Start a thread?

I open the window(s browser) and my left eye sees logic, reason and a waste(depot) land while my right eye sees "beatiful earth".

The only thing shine needs to create is to make all positive posts that are sufficiently unique sticky.
Everytime one gets demolished by an update, they need to put it into a divider for all positive ratings.
Everyone points out something bugged for aeons or an unplayable feature it gets there too.

((ED IT - creation can be through every tool available - mods and community included))

When ratings drop too much, they need to ressurect one demolished goodie or overshadow it with a newer better mechanism, they can remove one divider.

Jet impossible ideas would only go to divider if other games managed to implement it without pushing hardware limits.
Jet possible ideas can be a highlight.

The forum itself is like water - there can be storms and rip-tides.
Better things are blog posts, wiki, sticky link collections ...
But you can make a pretty photo of a stinking person. For shine's sake, they should keep important dividers too.

((btw I call them dividers, because they divide shine from players - opposite would be joiners or highlights))

Probably best. You said "brainstorm" and I thought you wanted to do some community discussion before making a proposal.

    Fair enough!;)

So... let's see. Issues to address:
    • A game this complex needs more technical subforums like the Logic sub. Without this, useful posts are always being sunk and become difficult to find. Also, seeking out up-to-date ideas and feedback regarding engineering or design necessitates trawling about the General forum, which can color a player's experience of the game due to all the conflicts constantly being hashed out there. Such contentious threads could be removed to General when off-topic, making forums for Logic, Engineering, Reactors, Weapon Systems and the like places where civil, topical discussion can reign so people can find out what they need to, and share relevant thoughts and ideas about how to use systems without being accosted about whether the game is gud or not, which is an issue for the General forum.
    • It might also be good to have a sub-forum wherein we can corral meta-discussion of how the game should or should not be developed, etc.
To ensure that players can use the forums to ask about and discuss relevant game issues without ever really setting foot in General unless they want to get into the randomness, what new subforums do we need?

    Currently I think:
    • Engineering
      • Logic
      • Ships
      • Stations
    • Combat Engineering
      • PvE
      • PvP
    • Design
    • Galaxy & Planets
    • Industry & Economy
      • Mining
      • Manufacturing
      • Shops
    • Drones
    • Fleets (as in discussing fleet dynamics and issues, tactics, etc - not showcasing fleets we've made)
    • Development Feedback (here is where comments/critiques on development direction would be 'on-topic')
    • Cooperative Building Projects
    Too much?

    Too little?

    Disorganized?

Starmade forums sounds like a couple of drunk people trying to survive apocalypse; the end of times.
Like we are doomed, and have nowhere to go, but at least we are having some kind of emo-depressing fun...
