I got the idea of getting together factions into a sort of group, communicating over the forums faction politics subforum.
My basic problem is, that having a faction in Starmade with members can work. But only one can build on the station in most cases. And it's cumbersome to manage.
So why not try to find other factions (even one man factions), that aim to play together.
Some basic rules would be:
Activity. Joining the (name pending) group means at least one man of your faction is online once a week ingame, and also has around 10 minutes time for the groups related duties.
Reputation system. You can gain and loose reputation.
Recruiting new factions gives you +1
Making other people feel really bad (sometimes flamming - but not every type of flamming is reportable) inside or outside the faction and getting reported for it (faction politics thread) gives you -5
Issuing false reports gives you - 10
Organising wars between factions no matter if in the group or outside gives you +1
Organising faction related stuff (communications or ingame stuff for example spawning in miners for beginners or building together) gives +1 each week capped at +2 each month.
I don't know. It was just an idea.
The reputation points are basically just a guideline for things that can be done in the group and serve no other purpose than letting players know what the goals of the group are.
The main goals are:
Having an easy access to a list of trustworthy pvp players that you can hit up for fights (example: "hey who wants to fight at monday at 7pm middleeuropean time - brierie?")
Having a way to have some friends /shelter that you can rely on when an anarchy faction decided to trashtalk you and flames around
Having a list of active builders and pvpers
Having a good base for starting bigger projects like pvp competitions or roleplay based ingame play
Having a way to expell "bad" factions from the communications when they obviously want to make other people feel bad
