Will it be this generation? Almost certainly. Will it be another two or three years? ...yeah, probably.
Um... What... is this more shitposting or not...???Will it be this generation? Almost certainly. Will it be another two or three years? ...yeah, probably.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.Um... What... is this more shitposting or not...???
You keep assuming what I may or may not know. But do you know what it means?...You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Which will be good. Fresh blood that doesn't complain about "Why, back in my day...".People will come, but they will mostly be new players, not returning ones.
This is the equivalent of putting on blinders, suppressing criticism is not a good way to get a better productWhich will be good. Fresh blood that doesn't complain about "Why, back in my day...".
I think we'll see a lot of cool new stuff once the advertising starts, we get some fresh blood, and they aren't saddled with the baggage of how "it used to be" controlling how they build things.
Nor is saying "IS IT DONE YET IS IT DONE YET IS IT DONE YET WHEN WILL WE GET MOAR" over and over again when the devs have said it's in progress. This is the equivalent of putting on blinders, suppressing criticism is not a good way to get a better product
I don't see how new players' criticism would vary from old ones if issues are still present. This is the equivalent of putting on blinders, suppressing criticism is not a good way to get a better product
Precisely.I don't see how new players' criticism would vary from old ones if issues are still present.
Even that is not a given. That is, IF there will be new players. Our genre is a niche, and you can be sure that the people who tried this game once and left right away (mostly the huge post-steam-release wave), will not be coming back.
Agreed 100%.As soon as the universe update goes out Schine needs to get StarMade back on the front of the steam store. The game desperately needs this to happen. Go into the multiplayer server list and you'll see what I mean. The game is dead and Schine needs to pull off a miracle. Even if the Universe update is REALLY good, they still need to be able to keep a fast development pace to maintain and expand the playerbase. I highly suggest Schema start looking to recruit more people for Schine. I hate to say this, but an update every 8-10 months is not enough to sustain a playerbase.
I believe that Schine can still pull off a turnaround, but they need to do it fast.
They've already flat said this is happening. That Steam gives them so many free "bump your game back to the front page" tokens, and that they have used none of them to date because they actively DID NOT WANT an influx of players. As soon as the universe update goes out Schine needs to get StarMade back on the front of the steam store. Remember folks, we are still in alpha. As in, most games are still closed off at this point.
Don't sweat over player numbers. They are not important right now. Long as they keep enough players for basic testing, they're fine.
Not the only thing controlling how we build things, heh. New players will figure out the same things as old players; it'll just take them a bit longer...Which will be good. Fresh blood that doesn't complain about "Why, back in my day...".

Maybe. You might not be giving the kids enough credit. Not the only thing controlling how we build things, heh. New players will figure out the same things as old players; it'll just take them a bit longer...
Pretty sure other people have touched on this, but I'll bite: why?As soon as the universe update goes out Schine needs to get StarMade back on the front of the steam store. Generally more people playing means ... more people playing. Some folks like to not be the only one on the server. It's hard to feel a community when it's only one.Pretty sure other people have touched on this, but I'll bite: why?
Why do they need players?
Yeah, but having a community and a running game isn't really essential at this stage as long as they haven't run out of whatever tiny amount of money they need to run development. They're still developing the game, and in equivalent phases in other games there are usually small closed alphas or no community availability at all.Generally more people playing means ... more people playing.
