Warheads are inconsistent

For a while now I have been working on making a torpedo, but am running into many issues with testing and designs. The biggest, by far, is that Warheads simply wont explode sometimes.
    • Ramming armor with a WH produces an explosion less than 50% of the time, and less than 25% will apply damage correctly or detonate all WH in a group.
    • Manual detonation will usually create an explosion noise, but no damage will be done.
    • Logic detonations work less than 50% of the time.
    • Pistol is the most reliable method when warheads are mounted to the target. Detonation ~80%
This makes testing nearly impossible, and I can only imagine the weapon would be extremely unreliable, even on a direct hit.

Has anyone else had better luck with War Heads? As I said, I cannot get them to be reliable in Ideal situations.

Thats been the case for quite some time as I recall (unless they fixed them again for 2.0). I seem to remember it started after the collision fix was placed in.

Edit: Which was added due to NPC fleets ramming things all the time I think?

Check Flying Debris on the dock. He made one of the best uses of a warhead.

Warheads are being removed in weapons 3.0, so they probably left them broken knowing they were nevering going to fix them; however, if you want to make good use of them in older pre-dev build versions; speed and spacing are important factors. In most cases, you lose all your speed when your first warhead impacts making it hard to get any real penetration or get any additional impacts; so, to overcome this, there are 4 main ways to get good impact patterns:
1- Hit your enemy so fast that all your warheads phase inside of your opponent before the game can interpolate a hit-check.
2- Use a stacked rail system with an area trigger so that even if you are moving slowly, you can rapidly accelerate your warheads into the enemy ship.
3- Use a logic rotator with a low density halo of warhead so that the warheads are perpetually pressed into the enemy ship.
4- Use a giant cloud of low density warheads like the one that Flying Debris put on the dock. It won't so much have a better impact rate as it will server as a giant minefield.

    • Legacy Citizen 3
Just for fun and before weapons 3.0, go to your config file and turn collision damage on. Then hit something with a torpedo. Faster is better.
