What is the problem with the fleets?

I'm very confused and getting mad at my mining fleet.

I only have one ship and it is a miner and I tell it to mine the sector, however it mines the astroid. It also flies in a linear path that is about 1K away from the astroid, and it stops mining at that distance so what is the problem?

I think this is a bug.

Any advice can help and if it is a bug I hope this gets fixed.

AI is incomplete and broken at the moment. We will be working on improving/fixing AI in the next update. We're currently on holiday at the moment, and won't be back 100% until late January/mid February. I can't say when we'll release this update just yet, as we've just come off a large update (NPCs). AI is currently our primary focus.

So, for me all I did was start mining with another ship to stop the drone from moving away and back in an endless loop. So weird.
