I like what Valiant70 said but no.
Some people have build ships and used glass blocks as bubble shield.
    My Idea
The bubble shields work like that using the square and different corner blocks in the game but instead we use blocks like the cargo space blocks you can go through them but they are still their, with a little tweaking this might work. Then the existing shield blocks could be used as the shields by appearing where the blocks (Like the Cargo block) are placed

Now you are probably saying pesce rocks wait a minute I don't want to build the bubble like shape. We could use a slider like the advanced build mode sliders and go to a outside view than we can use the slides to change the shields shapes.

I might add more in the future but share your feelings and your ideas in the comments :)

Area triggers work better than cargo. public service announcement ;)

I don't understand why everyone wants bubble shields

Devs have said no to bubble shields of any sort multiple times. Please look up things before reposting them, as this is a repost of at least five different threads that have appeared since I got on the dock. And it wastes space, memory, and time for the devs to look through, although they may very well look through it.

Just a friendly heads up. Also read the Frequent Suggestions Megathread (FSM) in case it's been suggested before (several times).

The thread I posted different from the bubble shield requests that were denied many times. All of those threads were requests to change the physics of the game to add an infeasible mechanic. My thread is a suggestion for a purely visual effect, something that has not been suggested or denied.

Deflectors are a separate but closely related suggestion, so they were included in the same thread. Fake (visual) bubble shields do not require deflectors to work.

A fake bubble shield for effect is different, and it wasn't clear in the OP.
Transplanting the "shield hit" effect onto invisible, intangible, indestructible blocks shouldn't be so hard as making a "bubble" shield.

Thank you sort of, cloaked blocks could work

From the optical side this works well enough for me.
That looks pretty amazing. I am a big fan of the series Once Upon a Time... Space.

The shields used in this cartoon look just like your effect.

The English translation is terrible btw.

The Dutch version is great. But i doubt many here can understand it. :-p The unspoken sound track is simply amazing. I wish StarMade had something like that.

I've often thought the same thing.

I experimented with uaing the forcedield blocks which work well as a logic controlled shield and actually work well against missiles with explosive effect. Sadly they added a ton of mass and the shield effect doesn't work on them. :(
[doublepost=1480218706,1480218631][/doublepost]Actually i don't see why they should have mass. It makes no sense. Would work for me if they didn't.

They have mass because their stats require it. That +HP and natural DR.

If you still have that build, shoot the shit outta it with the forcefeilds replaced with areatriggers(logic block).
They're clear, massless, do the shield effect when they intercept a projectile.

if you have defensive armor passives they surprisingly effective damage sinks at 8-9 layers thick.
They also block any shots from YOUR Docked Entities (like turrets). needing you to plan your build a bit...

Not bubble shields (my idea) block shields
Just use force fields and connect it to a logic system with sensors so that the "bubble" colapse when you lost your shields.
Maybe combine it with a enemy detector so that the shields only raises if an enemy is nearby .

    Ooh... that's interesting! ;)
I'm guessing this is a bug, but a nifty one for PVP. I'll certainly be trying this out!
Only downside I can see using area activation blocks is the lag with collisions. You could end up with a collision bubble of lag insanity.

Only time I've noticed triggers doing lag-insanity is when they're hooked up to their controller. That was about 15 updates ago i did the heavy-testing on them so it MIGHT have changed.
If you look at the ancient station-contest submission of mine you'll see exactly what kinda lag-bombs you can get with too many beams and a big patch of hooked-up area triggers. That's where I first noticed projectiles got intercepted by them. I've done the shield-bubble (missile intercept) thing a few times with them since. Stay tuned for my Open-Source Titan(OST) Module Project soon. Think I'll name it Magna Opera.
