Now that we have fleets i am requesting that ships can pass trought forcefield doors like starwars.
And that the pickup nblocks can be merged with the forcefield

The whole point behind a force field is to be solid.

However, it would be interesting to hook up doors and forcefields to faction blocks, to allow friendly ships to auto-open doorways as they pass through. And hopefully auto-close it again once they are clear.

Wouldn't activation gates and logic open/close force doors for this purpose?

    Aye, they do.

As to the OP, I recall reading that StarMade Force-fields were supposed to be ship-permeable.

    Instead they're non-permeable to everything.

I like the force-field blocks for small areas, but I would prefer a controller/module system (similar to warp gates) for setting up a large hangar force-field. Then it could just be a visual effect across the opening, without all the laggy clunky "door" blocks.

There is something just so cool about a forcefield conforming to the outer skin of a ship passing through. (as opposed to opening up the whole field like a door) However, to make it work easy in StarMade, we may have to put up with the forcefield passing through all internal spaces inside a spaceship as they intersect.

Well, I can see where you're going with this.. HOWEVER, it would need to be a new block, just for this purpose, and only take shield damage. Once shields are down, damage would pass right through it...along with air, should that ever get added as a game mechanic. I could see this being build in the same way warp gates are built, emitter blocks surrounding the area to be shielded in this way.

This feature should be added to the current force-field blocks. It seems pretty dorky that they take damage and are destroyed like other blocks.

    This sounds familiar... :D
