I've almost finished the exterior of one of my recent star destroyer projects. I've been working on this for a few hours every week for the past 3-4 weeks. So far I'm pretty happy with this original star destroyer design, the only thing that I'm having problems with is figuring out the interior layout that I want to use and how to implement logic within the ship.
Backstory
During the Galactic Civil war, the Empire was in need of small enforcement ships under 500 meters that could act independently from a major fleet group. The Centurion Class was the ship design chosen for its relative cheap cost and decent firepower. the ship is 445 meters long, 146 meters high and 187 meters wide. These ships were seen widespread across the galaxy as planetary police vessels and anti-pirate patrollers. A number of ships were also sent to battlegroups as anti-fighter screen ships or as escort ships for cargo vessels. By the end of the Civil War these ship designs were taken over by the planets they were stationed at and repurposed for a number of roles. Some of the new roles that the Centurion Class eventually took on were cargo ships, escort carriers, gunboats, diplomatic cruisers, and refueling ships. The Centurion class also became prized pirate flagships in the outer rim during the early years after the Civil War.
Weapons
So far the Centurion has 6 quad turbo-laser mounts that are mainly for anti fighter and anti corvette operations, although I only have one mounted currently. There are also 3 small single barrel turbo-lasers with more to come for AMS and anti-fighter use. The ship also features a decent sized hangar bay that can fit up to ten TIE fighters or eight TIE fighters and two TIE bombers.
