Right now when you dock to another entity it is assumed the other entity will be doing the driving.
That is a very poor assumption.
it prevents docking to things like modules and flying with them. Currently a module has to dock to your ship for you to fly off with it. right now in short you are forced to get out and go between the two craft.

To solve the issue of fighting for control by multiple children one would simply add a slave and master flag to the unit. This way a cargo container or something on that line would be set as slave. The ship picking it up would set its to master. If a master attaches to a master the system would fall under normal means. That said you could also add in a damage check and if one ship is say overheating it can be captured and is set to a slave mode and the core and on board systems are set to the capturing ships faction.

A good example of this is in the first scene of starwars when the imperial ship docks with Leia's craft. Do you think Leia's craft was going to take off and fly around dragging the star destroyer with it.

So make it an option please. It would allow for much more flexibility better ship design.

Have you read my responses to the post you made in general?

I don't think parent/child dock interactions will change anytime soon since a parent entity can have more than one child fighting for control.

Also are you aware that you can use the up and down keys to move between docked entities?

Although admittedly there is much work and quality of life improvements that can be made towards the docking interactions.

Yes, I'm aware of it. However, that doesn't always work properly in fact most the time it doesn't from what I have experiencing. On the current ship I am building pictured here. There is 9 docked entities on it. 99% of the time it doesn't cycle through them it simply bounces between two of them.

It wouldn't be really much of a requirement if everything worked with logic undocking. I could put a rail on the ship and connect to a docker on the cube I am picking up then when I want to drop it I would just use the logic to undock. However I have tried over 20 ways and no matter what the logic refuses to undock anything currently. not sure if it is a bug or design change because of recent updates.

But hey thanks for trying to help.

Never suggest something to circumvent mechanics that are bugged... Unless the bug is a long-standing technical dilemma or something. This is just a plain-old bug, when in doubt assume it will be fixed.

Are you absolutely sure you tried it with the activator not being next to the rail?
    A = Activator | X=blocks | R = Rail
    A X X R
If that does not work then it is very much a bug and I would recommend you do a clean install as it seems to not be your only issue.

(There seem to be a few rail bugs floating around, no doubt do to the new changes)

Tried it but considering the way things have been working on and off. I tried it again. Now it works but now the ships won't dock on contact.
Argh. First my sound does this on the game takes restarting it like 5 times before it comes back up. Now this is bouncing back and forth.
Seriously think this game doesn't like me.
