Planned Backpacks

    Okay yeah, its the most obvious suggestion in the world after the cargo update just came out, but one that needs to be made anyway.

    Backpacks. To increase our personal carrying capacity.

    Because just because we can now pull across docked entities doesn't mean we always will want to automatically pull that way, sometimes we'll still need to carry things by hand, and it would be nice to be able to carry enough to actually make it viable.

    Case in point? My faction home has public factories in it. Just some minor factories set up at 1x and 10x levels for anyone who needs them to just come in and craft stuff without needing their own station.

    Thing is, if they want to make any reasonable amount of stuff they still need to carry mats in to the factories by hand, no auto pulls for that. Which means they're gonna have to have bigger carrying capacity again.

    So, backpacks?

    Why not?
    But has the new update not allowed to sync your inventory with a nearby ship of yours = huge backpack?

    Ooh, you're right. I honestly hadn't considered linking your personal cargo to a chest on your ship.

    Seems kind of clunky, but that would definitely work.

    Would still like to see bigger personal inventory carrying capacity though.

    Does it not only need to contain helm and survival equipment (salvage gun, etc)?

    What is wrong in always having a shuttle or fighter around and an RP-styled undock-able cargo box 3x3x3 in it?

    Totally planned! Aside from expected gear such as health packs or better looking tools / guns backpacks with benefits was something that is already being discussed. Increasing inventory size with a special pack or module is something we already want to see, among other things!

    Some of the ideas I've seen in other threads for customizable equipment involve combining modules with equipment to modify it's function. Maybe combining transporter modules with a backpack could enable the personal cargo feature making it a little less magical and a little more rp. Combining cargo spaces and a backpack would just increase inventory. This way you'd have a cheap, normal backpack and a more expensive space wizard bag.
