A few miscellaneous requests for the build helper:
    1. Fill With Current - Simply automatically fill the template with whatever is in the current slot.
    2. Rotate About Axis - Lets you designate blocks already placed as being part of the template, and then revolve that shape around the selected axis. So if you made an L shape and rotated around the central axis it would give you a cup . Or let you make one curved line and rotate it around into a saucer. Combine with #1 to quickly make fairly complex shapes.
    3. Remember Last - Simply save the settings of the last time you used Build Helper that session. I use it a lot to make saucers/disks/cones so I often find myself making a circle of X diameter. Fill it in, come back to center, move one block down, make X+1. Fill it in and repeat the whole thing with X+2 (or X+5, whatever the curve I'm trying to fit is). If I get distracted or otherwise forget where I was at I have to stop and manually count out how far I was, and thats a pain. It would really help if I could just go back into Build Helper, pick the same shape, and have it load with the same settings I was using last time.
    4. Tone down the default sizes. I have no idea why the default Advanced Build dimensions are 10x10x10 while the Build Helper has a default max radius of 5,000. Who the hell is building a 10km wide anything? It makes actually using the sliders with any finesse next to impossible!

I was the one that yelled at calbiri for not allowing massive circles. Build Helper is pretty much needed at large scales for my current project, and so removing that would shoot me in the foot, and I'm sure others

Better suggestion would be the one I put in my thread of text boxes with arrows for incrementing rather than bars.

I'd like to add a couple:

1 - Replace block: you select a block from your available inventory, then you click a block. All blocks of the type that you clicked, get replaced with the ones you selected. Great for up-armoring a ship, or replacing one system with another.

2 - I've heard talk of people using prefabricated ship parts to more quickly assemble ships. Why isn't this already a feature in the actual game?

Call me OCD, but being able to sort my saved templates into folders would cut down on having to search my massive list of prefabs for what I want. Currently, I have to use rather long names to sort them like "column grey hull 3x3x10 with scaffold latice".

What are you building that is 5 sectors wide? Dyson Spheres?

How about we crank that mofo down to something a lot more reasonable, and then make it server configurable like build area is now?

You're aware that an aweful lot of servers use 10km as a sector size? And even the base game uses 5km in new universes now iirc

I am using it for 1.5km radius cicles max, but the point stands that you shouldn't turn something down and restrict players when a better option exists.

    Text boxes.

Ok i want to make 45r cir... oh im at 700 already...
Ok ill just... well darn screw it ima hit the Arrow 300 times.

I'd prefer a smaller default with the option to go large than a stupidly huge fiddly default.

I don't think we should be basing default game mechanics on anything but default settings.
This isn't even a mechanic. its a UI decision. Text Box would solve the issue. Why are you so against a text box and so for limiting what people can do?

A text box, or server configurable, either is fine.

Right now, what you claim was done for you and you alone is making life miserable for everyone else in the game. Thats just selfish.

People who want to build something with a 100m radius can't even use the damned slider because of how the increments work. Even with my mouse sensitivity cranked up, I can't make that slider move only one increment of 32 at a time, its always at least 2 increments.

I for one am just sick of having one of the most useful build options being so extremely difficult to use for the overwhelming vast majority of people, apparently just because ONE PERSON wants to build something the size of a solar system.

I didn't claim it was done for me alone, I merely pointed it out when it was originally caped at 256. I know of several people who use it for large structures. Warpgates and such

And yes, I am being selfish. I don't want to see a feature I use taken away, especially when it's not game breaking and can be fixed with a damn text box :P

Dude, nobody said anything about taking it away, I said to make it server configurable. Let the servers that want to let giant builds like that have it, let those that don't scale it down.

Make it work exactly like the current build area does.

Iirc, this is either planned or already ingame, but servers having an option to limit entity size would be a better way to solve people building big things, build helper limits aren't going to stop you from doing that when 3rd party tools exist :)

Now see, that I would actually rather see than what we have now.

Once the API comes out, have it where you can have a client side mod that determines your advanced build parameters instead of having it set on the server. Let everybody set the scale at what they are comfortable with instead of a one size fits nobody.

    Here's my addition:

Inverse restriction: can only add/remove blocks Outside the helper

    Another addition:

Inverse filter: all blocks except the filter block can be removed. Would be really nice when using symmetry on a ship with a non-symmetrical power system to keep from inadvertently breaking your power groups
