Its simple enough to see whats wrong with it. AI will not aim at the blocks of an asteroid and will only shoot at the Nav marker for the asteroid, which is often enough outside of the actual rock.

AI targeting asteroids should aim at the actual blocks, a lot like how AI aiming was fixed for ships.

why not let a "weapon" do the aiming then? should not deal damage though which an effect could help with.

That is my point, there is a weapon being aimed at the asteroid there. Its a cannon/cannon stop, because I play with friction off it helps incase I bump into the rocks as well.

My point being is that the cannon does not aim to hit blocks, all it does is shoot blindly at the nav marker.

ok probably the asteroid blocks are not as aimworthy as system blocks *sigh*

Still, please fix it. If I decide I want to shoot up an asteroid with AI (or mine like this) I want to hit blocks, not void.

Yes this is more of a bug than anything, same thing happens with planets too. Rather than aiming for the blocks it aims for the nav point.

    +1
On a side note, how do you get this to work?
Its pretty simple, make a non-block damaging weapon using effects on a turret set to aim at target. Then use wireless logic to trigger a salvager array on the turret. Make sure the salvager comp has a slaved storage.

That is all there is to it.
