Changes to weapon pairing.

    What i suggest here is that the current system of paring weapons with one slave and one effect should be replaced with 2 universal ports allowing you two sacrifice an effect to make a weapon with two slaves (Rapid fire shotgun anyone?) Instead of one, and it could also go in reverse. (How about ion in overdrive?) And while the original methods would still be possible it would allow more versatility without breaking the game.

    i'm thinking cannon beam cannon for some super long ranged point defense that missles have no chance of getting past

    and i'll follow that up with some beam beam cannon for some super long ranged cutting beams what does aim matter when i can just roll my mouse up and down and cut ur ship in half ;p

    and finally i'll build my 100k salvager 100k missile 100k cannon salvager for some super server crashing mining goodness.

    Those are some very cool options for what i suggest :) How about trying Missile beam beam for some super accurate long range fire.

    the cooldown on a missile missile beam would be like 2 minutes and 15 seconds which is just too long for me

    Edit however some missile o beam cannon weapons would be super awesome 7.5 second volleys of lock on missiles ... heck yes

    If you have multiple you could fire a salvo, and dont forget that you might get a hit from 10km away.

    can u imagine the speed the missiles would fire at they are what 6x server speed so 6x x 6x lol 36 times server speed that would be hilarious see if ur point defense does anything to my missiles moving at 1800 m/s

    Thats a good thing really. Perhaps beams could be used as a long range point defense.

    So you could have a (20%/20%/20%/20%/20%) (Cannon, Beam, Ion, Explosive, Overdrive) weapon?

    This could result in overpowerd weapons. Theres a reason why missle/pulse combos don't rapid fire, and you cannot have lockon rapid missles. These weapons would just be to strong, there would need to be some seirious nerfs to some things like missle/pulse/cannon where they would do way less damage than regular missle/pulses.

    Some things would be really cool like missle/cannon/cannon, a gatling missle that shoots really fast. But some like missle/beam/beam or cannon/beam/cannon would just be like ether A. Long range lockons that would be imposible to dodge or fight against or B. Point defense sectors away that would stop any missle. Maybe the secondary effects would be percentiges of the hole, and the third would have an increased or decreased effect.

    I think this is a really cool idea, though just as Nickizzy said there could be combinations that are way too powerful. So I think for this idea to even work out, we would need to flesh out some balancing ideas. Perhaps, for each system added the damage gets weakened.
