Turret Construction Questions

So questions about building turrets.

I know that the A.I. needs to be in the firing portion that should be the last link, correct?

I know the main ship needs mass enhancers, but does the base of the turret need them too, or all links in the turret chain?

Anything important that I'm missing?

As far as I can remember the main entity and the base of the turret need mass enhancers. The AI needs to be on the barrel. Also make sure the core of the base core is facing forward and the barrel core is also facing forward.

I thought mass enhancers were only needed if the portion docking to it was over mass of 50. If you have a gun assembly mounted into a turret base that's only mass 20, why would you need an enhancer?

You are correct. It's larger turrets that will need the enhancers.
