I recently started lurking around twitch and its many starmade streams. I noticed quite a few attempting to play through the tutorial. there was one set of trends that created a lot of frustration among them. this trend is that the tutorial still doesn't reflect or cover certain changes with the current game.
this isn't that major of an issue with people that have long since been familiarized with the game. but, these streamers I've watch are usually always very new to the game. like first time playing new. that is where it becomes a problem.
The problem isn't that it lacks what is needed to play. it does all of that well enough. the issue is where changes to the basic gameplay have occurred. such an example is the new armor and HP system which has been slightly addressed. the tutorial does explain that losing blocks does loose ship performance and such, but it still doesn't explain that this is reflected by the new armor and system health bars on the HUD. that is a big problem when the new players realize they aren't actually fixing their ships when they replace the lost blocks. so in short there, the tutorial still doesn't cover the new ship health system.
this is just one example however I would rather not go through and fully find each and every one. rather I will make some blanket suggestions that will be more useful at fixing it.
a while back before we had this new first start up tutorial zone we had this popup tutorial system which if you bother to hit the ESC key and look is still in the menu. this system is possible to be edited by the players and is made to allow us to help ourselves by keeping them up to date with future changes. I suggest making this more useful by having it automatically able to play when we find such changes would help during that tutorial zone play through. have a set of code commands which when included into the tutorials text, will play the tutorial when certain key words are used in either the NPCs in the tutorial, or by certain actions activated through the player. this way it can always get the updates it sorely needs.
