So I was building a ship the other day and dropped what I'd consider a medium sized turret in place. Overall mass of about 90. Got the "This entity is too heavy" notice.

"Okay," I thought, "thats fine. I don't have any enhancers in place yet, so that makes sense."

I proceed to drop 100 enhancers in the main ship, and I still get the notice.

Just how many freaking mass enhancers do I need if more enhancers than the mass of the turret isn't enough? Or am I just doing it wrong?

Enhancers need energy in order to work.

Besides this, the mass calculation was kinda bugged. Not sure if it got fixed by now. If not you will need a stupid large amount of Enhancers. :/

It might be more bugged now because turrets that worked fine before the patch hardly turn to even try to face now. Even simple ones that didn't need any beforehand. While they do still shoot at their target they aren't even facing it half the time.

Tbh I'm almost considering using the old docking system until all the bugs with turrets get fixed. They're pretty unusable atm, and that really hurts considering that a good portion of my firepower is generally in turrets.

Mass enhancers will only affect entities that are directly docked to the entity with the enhancers. That means that enhancers on your ship affect your turret base, and enhancers on your turret base affect it's barrels. Make sure that you've got enough enhancers for your barrels.

Seriously? Well thats a pain in the ass. Thanks for the heads up, I'll start incorporating the enhancers into my bases from now on.

That said I've coated the ship, base, and barrels with enhancers and nothing is working. Small turrets that are no bigger than a 3^3 box aren't working either.

Are you using multiple independent barrel sections or multiple AI modules? Multiple AI units on different parts can mess up a turret by trying to target different parts of a ship or different ships altogether.

The only time I use multiple AI modules is when only one of them is able to turn the turret and nope not on these turrets and the only one with more than one AI is using the other AIs as extra Fixed barrels to target with and I'm still working on it.

I'm pretty sure its bugged atm. if i remember correctly the mass enhancers enhance upwards. meaning that as long as you have enhancers at the lowest level of the chain then it should enhance all docked ships above it in the chain

Thats what i thought too. Ive never needed to put mass enhancers on a turret barrel to get the turret itself to rotate so long as the base(Ship/station) had enough to allow the turret to rotate freely, the barrel could too.

I've never known this to be the case and never had problems with mass enhancers even when they first came out and were allegedly bugged, iirc default mass enhancers add 3.5 mass capacity (starts at 50) to all the rail on that ship.

The answer to this hit me last night during the shakedown cruise of my new ship.

I only get the warning when the entering the ship core while it's docked to my station.

The warning isn't for the turrets on the ship, its saying the ship is too heavy for the single rail block docket it's sitting on.
