Please for the love of my sanity add an option to turn the white noise background sound off.

There is currently a white noise background sound in the game that sounds sort of like listening underwater in a pool. or the muffled sounds of a jet engine. it is driving me insane as this sound is completely unaffected by the sound options and there is no way to turn it off. i think this sound needs to be removed or give us an option to turn it off.

TBH this sounds like a bug. Have you checked the bug tracker to see if its been reported? If not, perhaps a bug report is in order.

muting the game does not work on this background noise. it continues to persist.

If muting the game (through your OS's volume controls) and it's still making the noise - it's not the game.

I've encountered the "idle jet" noise before, and it's definitely the game.

i dont have that option to modify the games volume in my mixer.

it's good but it gets extremley irritating over time

Couldn't that be the sound the core block makes ? You can only hear it if your view is within a certain radius of the core. So people with huge ships with cameras usually won't hear it.

Until something is done about it, I guess you could replace the sound file with a silent .ogg file maybe ? (You can make one with Audacity)
