I've been playing Starmade for almost 2 years now, and one thing that's always been lacking about Advanced Build Mode is the incapability to place more blocks at a time (Such as a 10 x 1 x 20, not a 10 x 1 x 10) and the ability to place blocks in different shapes such as a sphere.

I would find this extremely useful for building large scale ships; would be extremely useful for building larger scale ships. *I am working on a 3600 m x 500 m x 1300 m ship, and the framework of the hull's shape alone is over 1.2 million blocks and unfinished. Would help lots.

Thank you for taking this into consideration,
    -Darkatus

    *Edit
Some of you wanted proof of my ship.

You can place over the 10 blocks limit in 1 direction in 1 go, just need the right tools

I thinked about a nice addition to the current build mode maybe it can fit with your suggestion.
It would be nice to have a full list of blocks putted in your ship displayed in the build mode.
    Like:
    Check box grey hull x500
    Check box power generator x50
If unchecked in this list, the blocks would dissapear from the build view and could not be removed by right-click (not like opened plexdoors), allowing the builder to see what is beyond his hull (or anything else) and can now replace blocks without having to remove the upper layer.
If you try to put a block on the location of an unselected (invisble) block, you'll just get an error.

I think this would be a pleasant way to design our ship's "engines" and everything inner hull.

A reasonable idea that I'm sure most have thought of at some point, however, I suggest it be kept out of the game until the overall mechanic of build mode has been changed and the fundamental gameplay issues, such as planet strip-mining and mid-combat repair, have been resolved.

Yeah, that would actually be quite awesome!
Definitely would help for adding internal systems to hulls, or tweaking.
As well as just showcasing ships too :)

*Edit* A way to see the values of energy that each segment produces would also be useful in conjunction with this to see how you can make it more efficient.

I would really like a feature of build mode that allows for circles, spheres, diagonal lines, etc. to be generated from just a few peramiters. Example: I make a huge circular space station and have to go to a circle calculator to get exactly what blocks I have to place down to make my circle circular. I have to count each line of blocks and on huge structures it's very long and tedious. I would LOVE to be able to put in r=120 blocks, center is right here and hit (make circle) thus making the process take only seconds.[DOUBLEPOST=1411846828,1411846790][/DOUBLEPOST]Also if there are any mods or something that already do this please tell me.

Open server.cfg and change PLAYER_MAX_BUILD_AREA = 10 to something bigger.

and the ability to place blocks in different shapes such as a sphere.
200% agreed. It would be easy to add a sphere-checkbox, and when it's checked instead of an X * Y * Z cuboid we get an ellipsoid. Code for this can surely be found in the internet.

But then create a new thread... It is a lot clearer for everyone then. You also have the possibility of making the thread post more complete. It makes everyone happy.

This thread has just 1 page.
It reduces the chances somebody else is necroing this and another spam thread at least :p

True. This isn't even such a bad idea, the only argument I have against it is that it doesn't encourage players to be creative, as they no longer need to design all the different shapes themselves.

    Only partially true.

    You want to do something.
If you spend hours transferring something into StarMade which you can imagine in a few seconds, you get annoyed and lose other ideas currently floating through your mind.
If you lose these ideas you feel bad because you know what you could have done. Could! if SM would have a few features which you can think are easy to implement.
    Especially if you know java and how easy you can put into an array : y=f(x)=ax^3 + bx^2 + cx+^1 or= a Bezier-Curve or= sin(x).
Getting annoyed of or feel bad about StarMade is bad (at least for schema).

I wouldn't mind if we could enter functions for x,y,z and "get a quick preview before we hit a button and apply it" or just use undo if it doesn't fit.
That would require you to learn how to use functions. Isn't that good?
